Optimised Class 66. ??

Post by Retro »

I believe that the S&C Route has an optimised Class 66. Does this mean that the RSDL Version has been or will be updated accordingly.
Kind regards James.

It would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it - for example the Donner Pass, which was released months ago, has a TS2012 GP9, and as far as I know the GP9 DLC has not been updated (I don't have the GP9 so I'm not sure but the store page has not been updated at any rate).

You could always copy the geometry files over to the old 66...

Optimised Class 66. ??

Post by bdy26 »

It's not the shape file, it's some additional windscreen textures and entries in the bin file. I've got Jims instructions for the 37s somewhere, quite easy to do at home.

For that reason I wouldn't expect the rest of the 66 DLC to be upgraded anytime soon.

I think the rain textures need to be added to the base model, so for that reason editing the .bin files alone wouldn't do anything

I've seen an optimized pack somewhere around being created by someone. But I guess it was a complete pack with all the files and therefore illegal...

There is this mod for the old one

Click to view more informationClass 66 Lighting upgrade for TS2012 [106606 bytes] - Class 66 Lighting update V1.zip
File ID: 27460 Date: 23 Oct 2011 - 808 Downloads

Dont see anything illegal about it.

Its a real shame though that the rest of the assets wernt upgraded at the same time.

So its not possible to copy files from the new ones to the old?

That mod is very helpful really. I put it in suggest downloads for Scenarios where ever possible.

I haven't got the S&C yet, so haven't tested the updated 66 yet.

Nothing illegal about the files in question. All I did was rewrite the .bin files in exactly the same fashion as the sound packs from the Armstrong Powerhouse and the class 325 upgrade by kariban.

Please don't assume things mate. I took the upmost care when creating these files to avoid this type of situation from occurring.

Tho mate this clear, I have not redistributed the shape files in any form with the class 66 lighting upgrade.

Thanks to everyone who has downloaded and enjoyed the mod.

I didn't mean this lighting upgrade, firetrap. ;) It was another one, having rain and light included... But I can't seem to find it...

It works on the RSC 37 by copying the textures across from the default, though quite how it works I don't know, it's not a child object.

Nothing questionable about the 66 lighting mod, let's not throw things in the direction of people thanklessly suffering bin file blindness eh ;-)

Yeah, there are *other sites* who operate with less scruples towards protecting the IP & copyright of content creators, so I wouldn't be at all surprised sadly

So does this add the lighting and rain effects to the RSC 37?

or does something else have to be done as well?

Thanks for the response Guy's. I am not good with .bin Files. I was hoping that RSC having done it already for the S&C could use the same Files or whatever to update the RSDL Version. To expect people to pay for the S&C so they get an updated 66 when they already have one seems a bit unethical.
So as it stands if I wanted to use an Optimised Class 66 on my Route Scenarios I would have to create a dependency and/or own the S&C Route myself :-?
Has anything else been optimised in a DLC Route that has not had the original sold alone Item done as well. I know for instance that the Class 86 was optimised on the WCML latest Version but was the sell alone pack also done :-?
Maybe someone can prove me wrong but surely optimising a single Loco ect. when a version of it is sold with a new Route should not be difficult for RSC.
Kind regards James.
