I don't know if this has to do with the release of the 4-VEP, but now I've got a big problem when installing the old 4-Cig in any scenario: When I select any engine car of class 421 in order to place it on the rails, instead of the car I get a very badly distorted screen! :( The non motorized cars seem to work fine. The same is true for 4-Cigs which have been previously installed.

Has anybody had a similar experience?

Thanks for any advice.:)

Have you cleared your cache? I gather this has resolved a couple of issues for people.

Thanks for your reply, Michael. But clearing the chache doesn't help.

Am I really the only one who got this problem? Other people might not be aware of it because you have actually to try to place a 4-Cig motor car in a scenario. The existing scenarios with that train work fine!

Thanks for anybody taking the trouble to try it. :)

I've been tinkering around with Portsmouth Direct during the day and creating Free Roam scenarios with the blue-grey and NSE CIGs... and no problems to report here, I'm afraid.

Hi, is the unit a reskin or default? The model has been upgraded recently & if a reskin might be referencing files from the old unit

Thanks to your advice, markpullinger, I discovered that it's the repaints which don't work. The original 4-Cigs, BR Blue and Network Southeast, work fine!

As far as the differences between the 4-Cigs and 4-Veps are concerned, you have to look very closely to find any. For example, the windscreen vipers on the 4-Veps are painted black, there are a few more of the vertical cables on the front and the top of the roof on the front is slightly differently finished. I would say the 4-Veps are glorified repaints of the 4-Cigs and I am a bit miffed with RSC that they have made me pay the full price for it. :( They sure would have made more friends if they had given the 4-Veps at a reduced price or even as a free update to the people who bought the 4-Cig.

Did they put a gun to your head then?!!! :-?

They aren't repaints they have a different layout and in essence are a different unit!

I will probably buy it but may wait for the next sale. If you aren't sure about something wait for a sale!

I haven't yet got Woodhead as I am not certain how it will perform on my system, however when there is another sale I will probably purchase it!

Not with the bank manager.

Remember, you have a choice, nobody made you pay full price for anything.

How hard did you look? The side windows in the driving vehicles are very different for a start, hardly a glorified repaint but perhaps that spoils the fatuous case you seem to want to make.

Woodhead is about as demanding as Bristol-Exeter and the upgraded PDL on my system. Nowhere near as demanding as WCML-N/GARL/E-G (by night), but more demanding than NCL-York, Ox-Padd.

I can only wish RSC would do a CIG/VEP slammer bundle, but that's bad for the bottom line. :D

Doesn't the VEP have an entirely different bodyshell (albeit one also based on the Mk. 1 design) with far more passenger access doors than the CIG? Or am I confusing it with a different unit (all these Southern EMUs look the same to me anyway! :P )?

Bizzare, I find Woodhead to be the only route that challenges my PC, never had a problem with any of the others there. :-?
If only all problems on the big railway could simply be TAB'd past...

Oddly enough, out of all those listed there, Oxford-Padd is the one I struggle with the most :-?

Identical Mk 1 body, but:
1. VEP designed with high-density 3+2 seating and one door per seating bay, as opposed to the CIG which had 2+2 seating and fewer doors per coach
2. First class compartment at the outer end of the DTC on a CIG and the inner end on a VEP.
3. Larger guard's van on the original VEPs.

You'd be keenly aware of the differences if you'd been commuting in the South East - vitally important to know where to stand on the platform as you watched the train arriving, in order to get a seat!

Afternoon All, this has probably been covered elsewhere but is there anyway of transposing the lights from the CIG to the VEP as the Headlights on the latter are useless
