Woodhead Line "Run for your Wath"

Post by matt1314 »

Hello everyone!

I was just driving the Class 76 over the Woodhead Line playing the "Run for your Wath" scenario. When I was near Penistone, I had to stop at a red light. Before my train there was a passenger train which overtook me some time before. And then before that passenger train there was another freight train waiting at a red light as well. On the opposite track there was a fourth train waiting as well. All these four including me were waiting for a fifth train which was driving forwards and then backwards changing its track. So the problem is that this train was blocking the way to continue my journey. Is the scenario scripted bad or what's the problem? I was waiting like 10 minutes before I changed to the external cam to see what's going on before my train and there was that glitched train going forwards and then backwards.

I appreciate any help. :)

Thank you for your reply. When I searched on the internet for a possible solution to this scenario, I didn't find anything. Nice to know that RSC knows about it. I sent them an e-mail about this issue. :)

It's possible to fix it yourself, as long as you are comfortable editing scenarios...

The service that is shuttling backward and forward is preventing any other services work correctly. If you edit the scenario and then go into the timetable vew, you'll see that service has a waypoint that causes it to do the backward/forward jig. Delete the waypoint and it should then work, least it did for me :)

Well, I'm not really into editing as I've never edited any scenarios. I just placed some new trains in a free roam scenario. :P Would you mind giving a step by step instruction on how to correct the scenario? That would be great. :)

Sorry for the bump, but could anyone tell me how to correct it? I'm not good in editing scenarios so I don't really get what waypoint to delete to stop that glitched train from going forwards and backwards.

You need to edit the scenario, and then go into the Timetable view.

The service you need to edit is the "5.55am Wath Mottram Coal". For some reason it has a waypoint destination "PW Up Goods Rev" which is the one that causes the pathing to go bonkers...

Select that waypoint, delete it, then save the scenario.

If you're not comfortable with editing the scenarios, why not clone it and then work on the cloned copy. Sounds like a good way to learn the scenario editor anyways... :D

You could just do the Career Mode Version, it is identical in every way except it works :D

Or if you use RW_Tools (Using RW_Tools should be made law!), open it up, load the scanario and delete the rougue service! I did it that way and it worked a treat! :D

Cheers

Thank you so much, I've edited, will soon try if it works. BTW I got a reply from RSC and they said the following:
Dear Matt,

I have looked into this matter and there is no known problem with this scenario, it can be completed, I can not give you precise instructions
but be assured that is is not a glitch.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to re examine your strategy in this particular scenario is it possible that you may have missed something?

Be nice if someone over at RSC actually took the time out and played the scenario as supplied with the sim and then passed the above comment - after all they may have already updated it themselves and forgot to include it in any update to the route

Deleting the waypoint on the 0555 service did the trick for me as well - I actually passed it as I was entering the tunnel ;) 8)

I tried the scenario at least 8 times before I removed the waypoint after Penistone before I managed to complete it

No known problem...?

I did a 'Verify Game Cache' last night to see if my edited version of the scenario would get 'updated' to the non-working version. The waypoint that I deleted to make the scenario work was back...

Have I been rude or what?

Seems that it's not known, if you got the same waypoint back when you verified the files...

Not at all.

I think all that John is pointing out is that numerous people have encountered problems with this scenario and RSC are stating that there is no problem.

I believe that this scenario is broken as supplied for reasons unknown as yet.

I fixed the scenario myself and played it to completion. A verify cache returned the scenario to it's original 'broken' state.
