I don't really buy into the notion of buying a route just to use the assets included either. The routes I buy are ones that I want to drive, additional assets are just a bonus

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
If I was interested in buying this route I would quickly be dissuaded by the specs requiring 8GB RAM

I would like to know why a 32bit application needs 8GB since it can only address half of that

Hi, ...
Run Woodheat/WCML than run Colonge -Duesseldorf.
In Taskmanager becomes 2 GB Task Ram size.
It is normal.
The missing Signals/Milkbottle must fixing and the Scenario "294 in Deutz" is brocken.
In the version of Aerosoft store the signals are all there.
Not only via Steam.
WHO has since played around asking themselves again, instead build very sensible work.

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
As I posted earlier the specs on the Aerosoft Website and product page are totally different to what STEAM states, as nobody has been able to answer my earlier query. Below is the specs taken from Aerosoft page for the route. !!! - So are steam trying to get everybody to buy new PC`s ??

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
I do like my German railways and there are plenty of things I'd buy this for.
I like this part of Germany, I love the rolling stock, seeing some big double deck stock for a change. I'm a little put off by what seems to be a fairly high price and some big missing things, like not being able to drive from the driving trailers.

If only all problems on the big railway could simply be TAB'd past...
Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
Performance is very good for me mostly 30 fps looks like they way overestimated the sys reqs way better performance than wcmln and woodhead. The sounds are awfull though and also all the station clocks are wrong times. Off to do a verify see if that helps.

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
Regarding of the requirements listed on Steam and my rig:
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit - check
Processor: 3.4 GHz or faster - not check, Intel Core2Duo E8400 @ 3,0GHz
Memory: 8.0 GB RAM - not check, 4 GB DDR3 RAM
Hard Disk Space: 6 GB of free space - check
Video Card: 1.0 GB, such as Nvidia GTx560 or ATI equivalent, with Pixel Shader 3.0* (AGP PCIe only) - not check AMD Radeon HD4870 512 MB
So my system seems to fail in all 3 important categories. Can I run it? Yes I can. Does it run smoothly? Well sorta. With my default settings in a mix between medium and high it runs with 20-25fps most of the time. Cologne main station it gets a bit below 20 when turning the camera, just sitting in the cab is fine. Düsseldorf main station I had a massive frame break when approaching it at like 10fps, but when hopping back into the cab it is about the same as Cologne.
I could try reducing AA (MSAA 8x now) and pulling down some more details, but it runs sufficient enough for me. Some lags here and there, but nothing where I would worry much about. I'd say if your PC runs WCML good enough you will not have to worry here.
@kennyb: the specs posted at Aerosoft's homepage are almost those listed for RW3 on Steam. Funny enough Steam says 2,8 GHz cpu and 256 MB graphics card.
Oh and yes: I got a surprise present from my dad who bought the route twice
Thanks dad.

I too have the missing signals issue making the route unplayable. Have sent an email to RS - has anyone else logged this with them ?

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
Let's just note that Otto is moaning and groaning about 1) the route as sold by Aerosoft, not RSC's package and 2) the Aerosoft version after he has modified this, that and the other. I've come to ignore Otto's opinions precisely because he is almost always condemning a product for not conforming with his version, not the original. In this case, keep in mind that his OS is XP, not 7-64 bit as specified in this route's minimum specifications. One thing I will say about Otto is that he is at least honest about what he is reviewing; unfortunately, many complainers are not as honest and many readers overlook his honesty, thus misreading his comments.USRailFan wrote:I see Ottodad's already slaughered it at t-s.com, which is usually a guarantee for excellent quality.

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
Unless payware companies match freeware offerings, I think I may well not be bothering with anymore payware routes unless they at least match in level of detail, I am mystified by Aerosofts approach, and I would not recommend this route because of the lack of detail in between the cities, particularly just plonking buildings on grass! Not so bad if you have trees or hedges obscuring the fact but at £26 or £1 pound per mile its unproffessional. The sim imo demands a better attention to detail especially if you want my money. Is every one happy who has the route at the way your loco bucks around all over the place at speed? Very unrealistic even worse than NEC. Wish I could have a refund?

I think, by the sounds of it I'll give this one a miss. They could probably have chosen a more inspiring route as well for a first German payware offering, if this is the most interesting German route they could have chosen I'd be very surprised.

Re: Köln-Düsseldorf for Train Simulator 2012
I might by this to give the VR stock a good run
And It will hopefully encourage more German (and maybe Dutch/French) routes
