Over here, commuter trains have 3.1 m wide carbodies, and 2+3 seating. A lot of people used to complain about how cramped they are - until they went to Britain and discovered that the British commuter trains also have 2+3 seating, in carbodies 30 cm narrower...

The tunnel rules are the biggest issue with better connections with Europe, none of our domestic passenger stock gets anywhere near the safety case. That and all the incompatible signalling... once everything is ERTMS and the Euro driver license is widespread someone might have the bright idea of making domestic tunnel-capable stock.

Our freight engines are fine, if not very well constructed - we don't have the infrastructure to deal with longer trains, short trains with better acceleration fit the traffic patterns. The worst part of the loading gauge is the effort we have to make to upgrade lines to handle standard containers.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Can't help thinking that a route with line speeds of 200kph+ but only 42km is going to be, well, short, very short.

Shame as I would love to have some more prototypical German routes. (hint hint :wink: )
If only all problems on the big railway could simply be TAB'd past...

It's 30€ for a 40km route (yes I'm too lazy to convert anything right now, sorry guys ;)) - BUT you'll also get a lot of rolling stock:
* BR 143 030 trafficred
* BR 151 135 Cargo trafficred
* DABz (with destination signs Aachen, Hamm Westf. and Koblenz)
* DBbzf (driving unit, no cab, no controls)
* DBz (DB for "double decker"? well not really, but these are them)
* SB ABx 791 RE ("S-Bahn" or city line wagons)
* SB Bx 794 RE
* SB Bxf 796 RE (driving unit no cab, no controls, with destination signs Essen Hbf, Köln Nippes, Langenfeld oder Wuppertal-Vohwinkel)
* Habbis 345 Railion (brown, trafficred, advertising Nordwaggon, Transwagen and VW/Audi)
* KKW Aral (also as Ermewa, KVG, Minol, VTGrau)
* Sgss-y (Containers from Maersk, EG, FCon, P&O)

The last three are also available directly from vR for 6€ each, so do the maths yourself ;)

Yes it's not a long route, I have to agree. But it is a very popular one and one with usually a very dense traffic all day long, local commuter trains, regional trains, inter city trains and the ICE plus freight. So it offers a great range of scenarios.
AND: it's the first 'real' german addon to be published. If sales are good I'm pretty sure there will be more and longer routes in the future.

Don't have it myself yet, cause I still need something to eat at the end of the month - and virtual trains both don't taste very good nor are they very meaty - so yeah... waiting for a surprise present here. Or a cheque from my employer. Both things probably ain't happen too soon though :(
Please note: english is not my native language, sometimes I may not use the right words to describe what I want to say.
I don't mean to offend anyone, but irony and sarcasm may get lost in translation

Well, I had high hopes for this route ("don't believe the hype") Its a heck of a bumpy ride! I must admit to being somewhat disappointed with it, buildings plonked on grass msts stylee not much either side of the tracks Thompson stylee, floating tree lines etc and some very familiar buildings! The Dosto's are welcome, however there is no pax view nor are the driving trailers.. erm drivable, I guess its a typical Aerosoft product then. Was expecting more to be honest, and in my opinion Hamburg Bremen blows this route to smithereens. Oh dear. Just like to add also that bridge sounds do not appear to have been activated either? And the sounds for the Br143 fade in and out every few seconds? You also get the 790 series of S-bahn carriages and DT, GR rehashes these do have a basic pax view though.
I think Ted should get his hands on it and do it properly. :roll: Oh yes, no SE either.
One more notice! Shimmering station canopy supports at Cologne! Makes my eyes go wonky! :o
