Scottish East Coast Main Line from Just Trains

Post by bdy26 »

Well done John, sounds complex for a first battle with the dispatcher :)

I started doing a blue era one yesterday, based on a picture from WJ Verden Andersen's Diesels on Scotland. The 1625 Aberdeen York was Type 4 piloted by a Type 2 as far as Edinburgh as a balancing working, which makes for an interesting combination.

I've located a 1970s WTT that will do the job.

Thanks for the encouragement guys - could have took the easy way out and done Dundee to Perth but you only learn by diving in thanks to PJT for the markers ;) just need some adding for the East end of the through platforms @ Waverley I think

I know what you mean about the dispatcer and its abilties - why it took he player path off the UpFife to the UpPolmont at Haymarket west is beyond logic when theres no other AI in the area yet but a quick waypoint in P1 @ Haymarket will cure that I hope

Statics added @ Burntisland Inverkeithing and Dalmally now next come the fps killers Haymarket & Waverley ;)

Anyone remember the triple headed 20's on the Fife coals from Methil or were they from Seafield Colliery ????

Scottish East Coast Main Line from Just Trains

Post by bdy26 »

The sense of smugness when you beat him will be worth it! :)

One tip (perhaps for your next one) is to use a timetabled scenario - you don't have to use the timetable functions, but it can be very useful in making AI obey waiting where it's told rather than wondering off after an arbitrary time.

The route does seem a little thin on markers and portals, but nothing that can't be fixed in a scenario.

I did watch a video tutorial a few times and decided that a timetabled scenario should be easier so I dove straight in and went timetabled - even managed to get two services in same block to work

Service 2 departs 10 seconds into scenario from P2 followed a minute later by the light engine (Service 3) that was detached from it with Service 4 arriving in P3 in between as the Player service departs Service 3 is just backing into the sidings and Service 5 dropping down from Esplanade just as you start climbing up onto the bridge - worked perfect now every time I come out of the editor so quite pleased with that and to passing Service 5 we're only 4 minutes into the sim

Has anyone else noticed that the signal interlocking doesn't appear to function correctly - as service 4 arrives in P3, the P3 starter is showing a green and only changes to red after the train passes it inbound

Sounds impressive :D

The default signals will clear when crossed in the reverse direction - its a known bug since the KUJU days that has never been dealt with.

I think I've got a list of those somewhere... :drinking:

What a great route this is. Is there a fix for the 220 cab out?

Tried closing TS2012 completely, re-starting the game, then clearing the blueprint cache before re-launching the game ?
Usually works for me most times.. and I seem to remember having to do this for the Voyager update.

I get paid tonight, would everyone recommend this route? Going by the fact Mully put signalling diagrams on his website indicates this could be a very accurate route, is that correct?

The only thing that puts me off are the default signals but what can you do...

If you read over the past couple of pages you'll see some discussion on signalling, you may want to have a read if accuracy is important to you. The signalling isn't bad, but there are a few areas with issues (3 aspect signals on the up approach to Haymarket are too closely spaced for example and there's a thread on signalling on theForth Bridge).

If you're expecting signalling detail / accuracy to for example Edinburgh - Glasgow, I think you'll be disappointed, but it is functional and doesn't seem to be causing scenario issues so far...
