I don't think so. The first version released was freeware, and I recall that to many people on here it was a surprise when it was announced that it had been snapped up as payware.

Just because an early version of something may have been available freely for a time doesn't mean that we've taken some freeware and are now charging for it, or that the developer ever considered the final thing to be "free". It's just not the case, and the opinion totally undervalues the amount of time and effort that has been put in during the past couple of years whilst many new objects have been built and the route has developed to the stage it is now at.

It happended with more developers. JT barely making anything by self. They hunting on net for freeware addon makers, and if they see profit in the freely developed addon, then they give to the developer a "nice" contract to make it payware. So it's not surprise why the most of the addons for rw are payware. RSC also done this at least once (WCML N).
But i don't know why these developers accept this contract, JT probably cuts a nice amount of money, for nothing (digital distribution is not a big deal these days).

A strong statement there. But completely wrong.

In my experience, JT is one of the best payware providers there is, and their customer service is second to none.

If you have any evidence to support this preposterous theory other than pure guesswork and mischief, now's the time. Otherwise, I'd be quiet on this matter if I were you.

Do you have hard facts to back up your claims that Just Trains trolls the net looking for freeware to turn into payware? It is down to the developers if they want their work to be freeware or payware noone is holding a gun to the route developers head and forceing them to turn their once freeware route into payare. It takes along time to build a route and therefore they do not have to give it to you for free they are within their rights to charge for it. If you want free versions of thease routes build them yourself. And Just Trains do make alot of things themselfs they also make alot of new assets for the route developers plus they have first class customer service.

Do you have any evidence to support these assertions?

I seem to remember Mully posting the reasons why he went into partnership with Just Trains at the time it was announced JT would be developing the route. It didn't have anything to do with used notes in brown envelopes as I recall.

Do people really want to go out of their way to discourage one of the few developers who are openly engaging with the community from participating on the forums?

Now i am just a rail/flight simmer i have no skills in the digital dept at all, but i do like to fiddle in the RW World Editor for my own pleasure and what i have read over the years it takes a long time and dedication to build anything for these sims for us all to enjoy,

I think its unfair for people to keep knocking the system whether it be routes not being quite accurate, a particular loco not having enough rivets etc etc, i had more than ten years flight simming and it was the same there, a dial not being in the right place for what ever cockpit in what ever aircraft, personally i think that on the whole we are lucky that we have a sim to enjoy otherwise why would we play it,

There is an article[ i can't think off hand where] from the chap who build the Bristol-Exeter route that was very interesting as to how long and how much information he had to gather and i think i'm right it took him something like 8 months, 40 or more hrs a week , so lets give these people some slack and i am not pointing the finger at anyone just an observation from a chap from the Grumpy Old Mens club

You undersold me there.

It was around 9-10 months overall but for the final two months, it was more like 80-100 hours per week depending on circumstances. This was also an in house JT project, completely opposite to what was claimed above that JT do not do anything themselves.
