Problems downloading Woodhead

I have just received a gift of the Woodhead Line (lucky lad) and was looking forward to seeing it. However, during the download process, it appears to have 'frozen' when it has reached 99%. It continues to inform me that it is still 'updating', but this has been for some hours. I have tried shutting everything down and trying again, but it immediately goes straight back to 99% and stops. Now, whilst in this state I now cannot open the Railworks game at all. As far as I am aware I don't have any download size issues (I have Talk-Talk Broadband). I have tried contacting the Steam support line but have had zilch response in over several hours.
Can anyone please suggest a way forward? Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Change from TalkTalk to BT. I have just done that. Perhaps not the right type of answer for a thread on RW, but for me topical. BT download time is at least four times the speed, in my limited experience over the last week or so, although not necessarily an immediate answer to your problem.

Hi, i have talktalk broadband too, and i'm thinking of buying woodhead. I've only bought Edinburgh Glasgow and WCML up to now plus some rolling stock, and i've not had any problems with talktalk. Massive Touch Wood.
Talktalk may not be the fastest, its not the slowest either btw, but it is reliable.
I'm sorry i can' t offer you an answer, but i'll let you know how i get on downloading it, and hope you get yours sorted.

Hi, if it's sticking at 99% and you are running either vista or7, it might be that steam isn't able to update some of the files because it hasn't got administrator rights - easy eway is to make the steam folder read/write, that is not read only & it should then be able to update correctly. You will need to right click the steam folder - choose properties then select the read only box & apply to all folders & subfolders. After it has finished uncheck the box and apply to folders & subfolders again. You need to make sure that steam is not running first before starting however!

Many thanks for your responses, they are much appreciated, a definate feling of not left alone to ponder. Latest state of play - I switched on in hope today , and it has decided to let me in. I don't know what happened, I didn't physically do anything other than left it for an eeeeenorrrrrrmously long time, and then switched off in despair.I am not an IT expert, and didn't physically do anything, but all seems okay at last. Maybe for anyone else with similar problems - it might mean waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and then some. I must say the wait was worth it - now I can enjoy and explore. Again, many thanks for the time in responding.
