A strange one there. You do know that there are nearly 700* scenarios in the library here alone?

There are plenty of people writing their own scenarios.

*There will be more than 700 actually, a lot are not in the correct category.

That is a very good point, but for newbies like me, 90% of them have payware attached, and yes in time i shall be able to use them, but how many are freeware utilising all the incredible freeware packs of locos and stock??

I am starting this evening, and intend on becoming a scenario writer, rather than a route builder 8)

P.S Anyone know how long a decent scenario should last, whats your opinions???

More than you would think actually. We recently had the great scenario challenge that spawned quite a few quality scenarios, I have at least 6 in the library that require nothing but freeware and there are a lot more.

There is a very good reason why people use payware though, this doesn't help the newer user such as yourself of course.

I see very little point in having two separate routes to cover London - Crewe - Manchester and London - Crewe - Carlisle :o

Not to mention the fact that many struggle to run WCML North anyway, it's a truly fantastic idea (sarcasm) to bolt another highly detailed route on to the end of it!

And I'll add to that, while it sounds like a really good idea to have a massively long main line route between two major cities, how many are actually going to regularly sit down and want to drive 2+ hour long scenarios which consist only of basic operations - pick up passengers at Tamworth, Lichfield TV, Stafford, Crewe & Wilsmlow, rinse and repeat

For those type of things I'd like to see instructions like:

Pick up Passengers from Carlise 1.

Load 'Carlise-Preston'

Display Message.

Pick up Passengers from Preston 1.

Load 'Preston-Crewe'.

So It would basically be a instruction to load a route, maintaining all charasitics of the train the same (Location, Throttle, Speed, etc). It could also load with a different loading screen than usual, maybe a tin of biscuts on a table while you have a rest :P . You could have a video, maybe looped 20-45 secs, of Trains passing while you wait. The shorter routes would help speed up the time.

I'd like to see more routes built from scratch (including new terrain and foliage as well as standard assets). My personal preference would be commuter type routes or something of a mixture. WCML up to New Street and MML out to Leicester come to mind.

I'd like to see more RSC locomotives featuring more advanced controls. I'm thinking 156/150 here. So the Class 70 for example has more features than just the 'speedo on a computer screen instead of a dial'.
