The Lavender Line - Broken Consists

Post by Acorncomputer »

Hi all

I have been checking though my own version on The Lavender Line and was a bit alarmed to find that two of the four scenarios that come with the route failed to load citing Broken Consists.

I can only assume that recent updates have upset something but as I would not want anyone to miss out on the excitement from these two scenarios, all you have to do is click on the Edit button when the failed to load message comes up, move a piece of rolling stock one way and then back to where it was and then exit the scenario and then that scenario should load and run as it is meant to.

This trick should apply to any other route where you get the Broken Consists error message.

I had this problem with a number of scenarios and I didn't need to do anything except go into the editor from the error screen and save it without making any changes. AndyM77 came up with this one.

Hi Keith

Moving a piece of rolling stock to get a scenario going is a habit picked from long ago where you had to do this to get scenario changes remembered by the program. I never thought of just going into the editor and exiting again. Anyway, there may be people who do not know what to do when the 'fail to load' message due to 'broken consists' comes up so for those people, they now know that it is dead easy to fix :D

The Lavender Line scenarios are great fun especially the Christmas and Cow ones, and I would not like to think of people missing out on these due to wonky loading scenarios.

I agree that doing nothing is counter-intuitive. Most editing software wouldn't save an unchanged file but, thankfully, this one does! I have to assume that the re-save tweaks something in the saved file(s) that the upgrade insists on where the old one didn't.
