That is the bug with double-headed steam engines, which I've spent some time convincing RSC isn't my driving...

It's not that you can't pump it in fast enough, there is NO water going into the boiler - the F4 and F5 displays do not match, the F5 one will show what you'd expect with the amount of water going in and the F4 one will show what is actually in there. This has been there since RW3, which is what, 6 months ago? It means you can't finish any of the K4 scenarios, and you can't use the Big Boy or the Challenger as they're two steam engines in one.

Funny thing is I have finished them all. Had to edit the amount of water in the tenders of the trailing locos in one scenario, mind you - as they started out with less water in them than in the lead loco. Otherwise no problems here. I run with auto fireman on, if that helps.

That's the only reason.

Glad someone else is having the same problem and yes the Big Boy is broken as will and yes the K4 works properly with auto fireman on as I have already mentioned in my other post. I have also been through the run around with RSC over this problem. Have sent them a screenshot and told them it was the auto fireman selection that was causing the problem. Got 2 emails back from them saying to try this and that which didn't work, and when I told them that I have heard no more.

Did you try the usual things? Repair the game cache, clear blue prints etc. Corrupted files may cause all kinds of problems.

It won't, the code for manual firing and multiple simulations is broken and has been since RW3 arrived six months ago. You can reproduce it at will with any combinations of one or more steam engines, or even a steam engine and another engine of a different type. There is a scenario which shipped with Woodhead, which is also obviously since RW3, which is also impossible to complete with manual firing.

I don't think I had a problem with the woodhead 8F scenario using manual fireman, certainly gave it a very good thrashing up the steep hill out of Wath, and a bit beyond until I realised i was supposed to stop to drop of bankers :)

I run out of water at more or less the same place every time - I might be driving a bit harder than you I guess coz I don't make it that far. The double-headed black 5 on the S&D is similarily impossible.

I will give it a go with the dampers closed all the way - not sure I'll even get up the bank like that, but we'll see!

I think i've found a small fix, When on the move switch to the other locos cabs then use the F4 display to start the injectors on the other engines , it should* remain on when you switch back to your engine :)

The F4 display is the only real one. If there's no water going in there, then it's going to run out still even if F5 shows you've overfilled...

This gets wierder and wierder; by extreme economy I made it to the foot of the bank; F5 showed 40% full, F4 was on 13%. So I stopped, uncoupled the bankers so I could refill the boiler... but the instant I uncoupled the F4 boiler level jumped to the F5 one. I can't begin to speculate what on earth is going on there, frankly.

Edit: now I coupled the bankers again, and despite filling my boiler it's 12% full...

Yes. Flip between F4 and F5 when you have multiple engines coupled.
