Getting the best from my PC!

Post by whiterider »

Hi all,

I was just curious as to whether anyone knows as to how to get the most from my PC in TS2012. I have what I would call a 'latest' PC with some 'top of the range' things shoved inside. If anybody can help me as to what settings I should use to get the best as currently I am struggling to get 20 fps and have a constant 14fps. All routes have the same 14fps and amazingly the WCML North works best out of the lot - except for the Class 390 scenarios. The NEC also has a huge issue which makes it practically unplayable on one of the scenarios! I have included my system specs so that you can help me and maybe help others that have the same issue as me, I have tried everything and the game happens to get worse the more I turn down the graphics. I did try with TSX off and my fps was unbearable - strange I know!

Anyway here are my current system specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper TX3
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard: Gigabyte M68MT-S2P
Memory: 6GB DDR3
Hard Drives: 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: MSI GeForce GTX 570 (1280 MB) Graphics Card With Gelid Icy Vision Cooler
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
Case: Xigmatek Asgard
PSU: 600W OCZ

Thanks in advance to all for helping. It isn't very good when trying to make scenarios and it just lags. :(

I don't know what settings you are using, but your PC spec looks fine. On my system I reduced the antialiasing option on the loader screen to the lowest (1 click from the left side) and anisotropic to X 8.
In game settings: shadows have a big effect on frame rate, try turning them off first and try, then gradually increase if you have frames to spare. I turn off procedural flora, adaptive bloom and depth of field also.

I know you have a recent PC, but it's not a case of putting everything up full and off you go. Better to start low on some settings and then increase

Also have a look at this thread for ideas http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 4&t=118632
