Portsmouth Direct Line

This is one of my favourite routes for RW/TS2012; I think it captures the feel of the southern third rail system very well. I thought it would look even better in TS2012 thanks to all the new features so I spent some time poking the route and this is the end result:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71-WFtIR6Gc

Recorded at 1280x720 and running at approximately x20.

Things changed include:
Repainted track terrain to match track ballast throughout
New track and texture
New platform textures
Replaced many of the LED signals with more prototypical bulb examples
Added TS2012 sky
Implemented superelevation and track uneveness
Headlights added to the Class 450

Just thought I'd share how much of an improvement TS2012 can make to an already great route :)

What a difference Rich, great job! The new track texture makes it looks much more like a 'real' route. I shall have to try and forget I ever watched this video when I next use the default version :( :D.

Amazing Rich, Well done :D.

It is also one of my favourite routes, and I find it to be extremely FPS friendly, being the only 'long' route I can use TSX with (aside from Edinburgh - Glasgow). Because of this, I also embarked upon my own little project with it, re track unevenness, TS2012 sky, platforms. However, that is about as far as I got.

Re superelevation, is the route built with easements, or did you have to rip up some of the track?

PDL was my first DLC purchase and I've spent countless hours on it. I really liked the TSX sky and lighting. The track colour really looks like the Southern region now!

Quoting from another thread...
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.00GHz, 4GB Ram, Win 7 64Bit, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400.
To be able to run at that setting and still do high quality video capture with your setup is amazing!

With Fraps running it was a bit of a slideshow to be honest, but without Fraps I get some pretty decent frame rates throughout. With RW3 the northern end of the route was verryy slow but that seems to have got so much better with TS2012 (for whatever reason).

The acceleration of the default train in PDL is so sluggish, I find it hard to stick to the timetable.

Mike, if you've not got NEC, I find Edinburgh - Glasgow works just as well

The NEC doesn't have brown gravel tracks, as far as I know. Is it some reskin you've done?

Agreed. I bought it, lovely route but I can't get into it properly knowing that the 450 is so, for want of a better term, broken.

Yes it is. I wanted it for the shape but I changed the ballast to match the general ballast ground texture and the sleepers to Dowmac.
