The problem is, we are running out of really iconic UK routes that are also going to offer overseas appeal, unless of course they have been secretly working on something like the West Highland or Kyle line.

I suppose north of Woodhead could be the Settle & Carlisle but not only was it done to death in MSTS with the original then improved version (and Trainz), I believe there's already a freeware version of it around. Waverley route... perhaps, but having just given us a historical closed route (Woodhead) I doubt another would be so close behind.

Its probably the steam era Newcastle to York, Paul Jackson mentioned that he had not green lit the project yet in Nov/Dec, but then there was mention of the next project after Woodhead would be moving north in a recent facebook comment by RSC not to long ago. Being its Derek and his team working on it, I'd hazard a guess at it being something UK orientated and I think we can rule out his route he has been working on for awhile as that was a personal hobby project rather than something he wanted to go fully commerical with.

I hope it's the West Higland Line, There's already Glasgow Queen Steet made, so it wouldn't be too hard.

I wouldn't have thought the Settle & Carlisle route would be considered seeing as though John Griffiths has recently released version 7 of his creation and he's still extending it in Railworks, the West Highland Line is being created by Vulcan Productions at present, so, I doubt that being replicated either, I don't see why another closed historical route can't be thought of though, I'd personally prefer the Edinburgh South Suburban Railway rather than the gradient hogging Waverley Line, but, we'll all have to wait and see.

What about the Carstairs to Edinbough route? Might be a bit short though...

I think Vulcan are only doing a tiny section of the West Highland? Would be great to see Glasgow to Crianlarich section. Massive variety starting in a city, out through suburban commuter lines, then single line running through dense cuttings and forests, passing Loch Lomond, up into the mountains. Would be fantastic and only about 60 miles of actual route. The West Highland Line in any kind of length or detail would sell like hotcakes, immensely popular and famous. Perhaps they could do the Ft William to Mallaig section and go for sales on a Harry Potter theme with the Glenfinnan viaduct? The whole WHL is practically unchanged in a century, you could run anything on it from early steam to class 67 sleepers and of course the mighty class 37!!!

We are doing Fort William-Crianlarich. (Stage one includes all track but only scenery down to Spean Bridge) For free of course. I would love to see a payware version of the northern section (or Mallaig) however,it is so spectacular.

The West Highland line would be nice but the scenery would be a bit of a challenge for TS2012. The distant hills and mountains would have to be spot on.

There's another long gone trans-Pennine route north of Woodhead, isn't there?
"Snow Drift at Bleath Gill" ring any bells?

Now that could be interesting. Steam over Stainmore, with the magnificent Belah viaduct.

Another thought is something that Derek mentioned some time back that he considered - Consett.
Expanding the TS wagon fleet.

Stainmore, Edinburgh Suburban - all good but not names that are going to trip off RSC's Facebook audience or sell in huge numbers.

I guess we will just have to wait for more information!

I wonder though...
On the MSTS side, at least for the UK, preserved railways seems to have been a big hit (Swanage, Severn Valley, Nene Valley - to mention a few) - could it be that RS.com has decided to go down this route as well? (I have no idea about preserved railways north of Manchester though).

If memory serves me correctly, the 2 biggest preserved lines north of the Woodhead route would be the North Yorkshire Moors and East Lancs. There are of course others but not sure they would be long enough for RSC to develop, for Example... Embsay & Bolton Abbey, Lakeside and Haverthwaite, Bo'ness & Kinneil, Strathspey, Brechin.
