Re: Cabviews

I couldnt get the self install cab patch to work so tried the manual version and got it to work.The readme states to unzip into the main RW Asset folder which i did and but i then copied the cabcam file into the 2p loco folder and after much editing i found this to work.The original numbers were,X=-0.95,Y=3.5.Z=-4.3 The new numbers i found to have the driver look out of the forward window are..X=-1.0
Y=3.3
Z=-5.8
Hope this is of some use to the op

Here's what mine says
<ControlContainerComponent>
<cControlContainerBlueprint>
<InteriorInterface>
<cControlContainerBlueprint-cInteriorInterface>
<InteriorGeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Steam\7F_2-8-0\Default\CabView\[00]7f_2-8-0_cab</InteriorGeometryID>
<NumberOfCabs d:type="cDeltaString">eSingleCab</NumberOfCabs>
<InteriorCamera>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
<BlueprintSetID>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju</Provider>
<Product d:type="cDeltaString">RailSimulator</Product>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
</BlueprintSetID>
<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Steam\7F_2-8-0\Default\CabView\7f Cab Camera.xml</BlueprintID>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
</InteriorCamera>
So, same as yours. I included the interior geometry bit because I don't know what that [00] is doing there. It's probably always there, but I'm new to digging into these .bin files.

The picture I posted above is from hopping in the 2P Freeroam on Bath-Templecombe that came with the loco. I created a new freeroam and stuck the DT 2P in it and hopped in and it was fine.

So, it's something about that freeroam scenario that is causing the problem. I don't think there are any other scenarios that use it. Apparently creating your own with it will allow it to work correctly.

Here's what changing the values to those suggested above does.

I had a similar issue and noticed I have 2 installs of the Class 2P - one under DT/DT_2P_loco and another under DT/Addon/Railvehicles/Steam/2P. You might be regerencing the other one in which case you just need to apply the patch to that as well or swap in via RW Tools.

From memory one might be a freeware version and one the paid up version. Worth a check,

All i can say is the numbers i gave above worked for me and i am looking out of the forward window and straight down the side of the boiler to the front of the engine.To test those numbers again,i have just edited the Firemans view/side of the cab and i get the same type of view as the driver.If anything,-5.8 might be a little far back for some peoples tastes
There are indeed two folders for this loco but the one in the main DT folder is empty on my install so im working on the one in, DT/Addon/Railvechiles/Steam/2p.If i remember rightly i bought my version way back just after its release but never used it very much.

When i started to edit the cabview,i decided to uninstall-reinstall to start a fresh,so to speak.I placed the loco in an existing free roam scenario(Evercreech in Summer) on the Bath route.The only thing i noticed this morning was when i installed the, DT Patch1, the cabview on 40505 started to bob up an down slightly.I removed the patch via the package manager and the bobbing stopped.
Ive gone as far as i can with this loco as im not knowledgeable enough and i hope the op gets everything sorted.

Well that explains it. You were editing an entirely different cab view file from the one we were discussing. I wasn't aware of the one you reference, and am not at home so can't check whether I have it.

I heard back from DT. They have been looking into this. They mentioned that they were wondering whether some people were using the "pre-steam" version. Not sure what that means, but perhaps one of these DT folder 2P's is the version you buy from them directly, as I have, and the other is from Steam?

The cab fix they offer though is for the 2P in the DT/DT 2P_loco folder. That's why it wouldn't install through the rwp for you, Hector, and why installing it manually caused some issues.

They did say that they are updating the 2P for 2012 and everyone who has bought it already will be able to update soon. That should fix whatever issues remain, I hope.

Nice that they are so diligent about updating their old models for 2012.

EDIT: I don't have the DT/Addon/RailVehicles/Steam/DT 2P folder. I recently bought the 2P from DT direct. So the folder we've been talking about from the start is the folder for the new version.

Just one more piece of the puzzle. I was getting to the DT 2P with LMS coaches free roam through the drive by train menu. When I do that, the cab view is messed up as in the screenshot above.

I just accessed the freeroam scenario through the drive by route, Bath-Templecombe, and it loaded fine and looks fine.

When I access through Drive by Train, there are two scenarios listed in free roam, one on Templecombe lower siding 4 and one on siding 5. Entering this way puts me in the middle of a bunch of 2P locos from which I can choose. They aren't hooked up to any cars.

When I access through Drive by Route, there's only one scenario listed and it puts me in a completely different spot. I'm now on a platform looking at a whole train with a 2P loco and a bunch of coaches.

RW_Tools only lists one freeroam with this title.

Unfortunately some bright spark altered the default steamer cabview camera coordinates when RW3 was released last September, hence when driving default locos all one can see is the water level gauges, certainly not down the side of the loco boiler.

Thanks to the OP, I now know where and what coordinates to change, but why should I have to change them?

John

PS Have changed the x coordinates for the Black 5 to those used in RS, perfect, thanks again to the OP.

My thanks, particularly, to JimmyShand for his specifications, I've not only amended the drivers view in my Class 37 and 40, to allow me to do some shunting/coupling now, but, to all of my other diesel locos and have a birds eye view of what I'm seeing and all the controls are now within easy reach of my mouse in expert mode. it took a bit of time to go through everything as the numbers are different for each class of loco, but definately worth it, and I've kept all the appropriate readings, so, after a core update I can go back and amend them all. Yippeee, well done Jimmy lad. :wink:

Does anyone know of better values for the Class 76, I recall I read someone said the view was a bit iffy and I think I wouldn't mind changing it.

David, if you follow my guidance on the second post of this thread and then change the "Y value" in the class 76 cab camera.bin file to 3.0000 then you will get a much better view out of the front window and a better height for the wipers. You can also pan down slightly with the mouse and you will be able to see the ammeters as well as a good view. Works for me.

If you are not comfortable with file manipulation drop me a PM and I will be able to email you a modified cabview file you can just paste in.
