I agree great work Bill and thanks for taking the time out to try and improve on an old model for the rest of the community.

I would be more than happy to do the sounds for you Bill. I was just wandering if you were interested in letting me add my custom sounds into the same pack as your cab mod. That way people will get two upgrades for the price of a single download!

I just need to tweak the engine bin file so that it points at my improved sounds. Minimal work and can be easily added after your cab mod is ready to go without delaying release too much :D

It would be even better if anyone had recordings of Deltics so I can do completely new sounds but that is something for a future update I think.

Hmm, here's a suggestion for the nose which I'm not sure is going to work, but try making a scenery item of the main bodyshell only visible in Internal views, and add it as a child object.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

The Class 55 Cab Project

Post by bdy26 »

I was pondering doing some weathered reskins for the Deltic, particularly blue and the finsbury park White roofed ones. Would it be possible for someone to create a headcode box as a child object to do a changeable headcode?

Wonder if between us this could become a bit of a pack with lovely new cab and sound mods?

Well the cab textures are uploaded already.. What I could do is alias them to my repaint which my aim was to basically be a replacement for the default because I didn't like the default paint job either. (for me at least). I can hold off on upping that and see where this sound thing goes.

Sorry Bill I forgot they were already uploaded :)

I have sent you a PM but yes I like the idea of combining forces with you for a full Deltic overhaul.

You know I'm honestly surprised the deltics haven't had a new soundset done community or AP wise since there is quite a few of them in preservation, I even recall one of the magazines I was reading in Nov showing a picture of 5 of them being moved to a diesel gala, all working and there has been recently one which has been doing some comercial freight work on hire.

Have to say that both the reskin you showed in the WIP thread of the railtour one and now the cab certainly gives the somewhat tired looking textures of the current 55 a much needed refreshment, even without any new sounds a suitable well done reskin seems to completely revamp the feel of a somewhat tired looking model.

So while I'm not a big fan of BR diesels I have to give thanks for you doing the job of giving the old gal a redo.

Are those your recordings chris?

I don't want to use anything without permission you see.

Now there's a 'Pro' pack I would buy :).

Bill, great job on the cab, it really does look like a new locomotive

Sounds good Jim! I'll hold off on upping the reskin and see where this goes! Sounds fun.

The cab reskin is mearly a direct replacement for the defaults.. What I can do is just edit the blueprints for my repaint to point to its own cabview folder so they aren't ever overwritten. Current they are just aliased to the default cabview location.

I sense a plan coming together!

Could this be a UKTS Freeware Deltic Pack? Skins from Bill and Ben (the re-skinning men ;)) plus a cab from bill with maybe a new nose (nudge nudge Kariban) and sounds improvements (and maybe full custom sound with time).

Yum Yum :D

I'll contact zhubuntu also and see if he wouldn't mind if I include his cab light mod in it. I have it already in my repaint (just the cab light not the headlight portion) but I'll contact him and see if he wouldn't mind me separating it out and including it in. It's simple code but I didn't even consider adding a cablight until I stumbled across his little mod.
