EAX?
Hi, i've rectently bought and installed a sound card with EAX 5.0, however, I don't seem to be getting much reverb from walls+bridges in RW? Keith's WCML southside video shows what i'm aiming for, is it something different to EAX in that video? The card is Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium.
And What is 'Force software mixing'?
Thanks, Mike.

Re: EAX?
You won't get reverb from walls usually, keith has added these to his route on some sections particularly going through the rock cuttings over beattock, most if not all other routes I have been through, walls do not reverb only tunnels and under bridges. Force hardware mixing has no effect in my experience.

Re: EAX?
So how do i make the reverb in my own routes? Do I just change the track sound to tunnel/under bridge?

Re: EAX?
You need to install Alchemy to hear the reverb and other sounds get it here
http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/alchemy/
Install the program, run the program, point it to where your railworks is installed and hey presto.....REVERB...
Keiths WCML is one of the better routes for these effects , although they are available in others.
Hope that helps

Re: EAX?
Not that i know of.............just download the latest version , from that site, and it will be all you need , regardless of weather it says vista and not win 7.
Its what i and a lot of other people use , in fact its the only one ....
If you want the EAX effects , this is what you have to do .

EAX?
I use it on win 7 and get the reverb. To put in game you just change the track sounds as you suggest. The cutting and embankment sounds also use them but with less effect.

Re: EAX?
I think the OP wants to know how to add reverb to walls and such in the track properties, no idea myself however you could ask on the route builders section. On a secondary note Alchemy won't sort that out, I read on a post somewhere that Alchemy wasn't needed on W7?

Re: EAX?
In the Creative audio control panel, under EAX effects, whould I set the slider to a high number or a low number?
BTW, I'm not asking about how to add the sounds to track now.
Also, assuming the Class 86 sound pack is meant to give muffled cab sounds, I don't seem to be getting this...

Re: EAX?
Have you ticked the "Enable EAX Sounds" in the Settings tab on the splash screen?

Also be aware, unless something's happened inbetween from the developers in an update, that having this feature activated through AlChemy can result in some scenarios not working until it's turned off. It can be cured by turning it off, starting RW, loading the scenario you want to play, save game straight away, quit RW, turn Alchemy back on, re-start RW, load your scenario, and carry on!

Re: EAX?
I keep getting a 'The audio device required by this application is not detected. Make sure the correct audio device is installed proberly' pop-up. The box for the sound card has 'Alchemy' on, so It is there! I'll try reinstalling drivers, then Alchemy.

Re: EAX?
Interestingly, since the upgrade to 2012 I have had no issues at all with running Creative's Alchemy and RailWorks. Prior to 2012 it was an absolute nightmare, scenarios would not load, erroneous error messages on scenario loading, signals not clearing, crashing of AI trains, etc. I can now leave Alchemy active all the time with RailWorks and Windows 7 64-bit. It does make quite a difference to sound in RailWorks.sundog wrote:Also be aware, unless something's happened inbetween from the developers in an update, that having this feature activated through AlChemy can result in some scenarios not working until it's turned off.
