This is a RW default scenario that I am trying to drive. I did encounter two problems and do not know how to sort them out.
1. You are to assemble your train at Thorn siding 3,4 and 5. Then couple to a helper loco on siding two and set off to Victorville. I have done that. When coming down from Thorn siding 2 onto the main line, the signal is green. As I approach it, it turns yellow. No problem. I carry on and find the next one red. I wait and wait. Then I opened the 2D map. An AI was standing just on the other side of Frost low track. There is just no way that we are going to move. So then I thought I had to do it over again with a little more speed as to be on the main line before that AI leave Victorville.
2. I start to assemble my train again with more speed this time, but as I want to couple to cars on Thorn siding 4, the last car in the consist at that stage, just go right through the cars that I am supposed to couple to. I quit the game and start again. The same happened.
So now I am stranded.
Thanks for the help in advance

I have the same problem, I cant figure it out. I tried it with both engines pushing to Victorville and then the spare at the Victorville end and still cant get past the signal on the mainline heading towards Victorville. It actually let me run the signal and hook on to the AI train but I didn't want to see where that goes. Did you ever figure it out?
Re: A Thorny Matter: Barstow to San Bernardino Route
I've just played this scenario a couple of times with no problems... for me it's worked fine heading to Victorville with the start loco on the rear and the helper on the front (Victorville end). There are some adverse signals, but they're only speed checks for the crossover after the bridge at Frost.
It's possible it's the dreaded 'crawling AI' bug - is the AI train in front moving at all?

Yep, the AI train is stopped dead with the engine facing me as I head towards it. He is not stopped at a signal just in the middle of the run between two signals. I ran the double red without any error and then met the AI train after I go under the bridge after leaving the siding.

What's the ID of the stopped AI train (should be visible on the map - 9 key)?
I get U-7707-A passing Thorn very soon after the start, and U-5396-C is waiting just before Victorville Path for 7707 to clear the next block.
I'm wondering if you've taken long enough - you have coupled up all the 'cars' (19 I think) at Thorn before heading for Victorville? Alternatively, it could be that either 7707 isn't clearing the block, or 5396 isn't starting when the signal clears.
I've just tested, and 5396 isn't scheduled to start immediately - it pulls away around 16:15:50 (and doesn't hang around when it does, either!).
