It would depend on whether the driver wanted to keep their job. Doing that would be worthy of immediate suspension without pay, followed by immediate termination as soon as the data recorder readings were confirmed.

You also have the issue of wagons only being rated for 75mph, and the issue of increased air turbulence causing infrastructure damage, danger to passing trains and a hazard to people at level crossings and stations. The duty of care that train drivers have to prevent their operations causing harm to people would be a good enough reason to not go over their service speed limit.

Slightly off topic ( again, as this is supposed to be HST talk ) but I've just substituted a Glasgow - Edinburgh Push Pull 47/7 with a 47/4 + 5 MK 3a's and a MK 2e to represent the trainset.
Maximum speed was 95.6 mph. but the pull up Cowlairs was very unrealistic with the 47 only just managing not to stall.
When we were testing "Scotish Capital Express" for MSTS, Bob Latimer spent a lot of time tweaking the power balance for the 47/7's and I think I can say, we had a most realistic set-up when the final release of the route was ready for the public to play with. ( thanks Bob, :P ) and further to that, I don't think we are anywhere near that sort of performance with RailWorks. :-?

Saying the entire game is bad because one piece of stock is set up pretty terribly isn't really on, is it.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

I'm not saying the game is bad, ( your word ), I'm talking about the performance of the 47's.

There are still lots of issues surrounding performance of many locos in the game. My biggest bugbear is still the max speed running and super acceleration with notch 1 throttle setting that seems to prevail. Driving up Queen St tunnel with a rake of coaches and having to throttle back to 25% power on some locos just feels so wrong!
