FOR EXISTING USERS: Horseshoe Curve for £2.99 (90% sale)
This is making the rounds on the steam forums at the moment. People are crying foul that the "free upgrade" to TS2012 means old-timers cannot cash in on this deal...but you can!
1. Buy Railworks 3: Train Simulator 2012 Deluxe as a gift.
2. Select put in own inventory.
3. After purchase, go to your inventory and unpack the gift!
TS2012 will download and update itself on your steam account, and you've got yourself Horseshoe Curve (after the dreaded file verification!).

EDIT: IT WORKED! Route is in my list and I've successfully loaded a free roam.

OK... So far so good. How do I "unpack the gift"?
Re: FOR EXISTING USERS: Horseshoe Curve for £2.99 (90% sale)
In your steam client, click on "community", to the right is then the button which says "View Inventory", click that and the "gift" should be under your Steam tab. Then click the gift followed by "unpack gift" to the right. Give it a few seconds and it will start to download.

Aaaahhh... I don't see an "Unpack Gift" option to the right at all. Trust me to end up wasting the price of a pint.

What has been wasted? I don't understand why it should not work. Is the actual TS2012 Deluxe gift there in the inventory?

It could've been worse - you could've wasted the price of a Norwegian pint (well, half-litre) - which is anything between 7 - 10 €...Fodda wrote:Aaaahhh... I don't see an "Unpack Gift" option to the right at all. Trust me to end up wasting the price of a pint.
I'm not fat - I'm easy to see

Yes, it's exactly where you said it would be, and where I've been looking. Clicking on the gift does nothing at all, and the only options I can see on the screen are "View in Store" and "Send Gift".
Re: FOR EXISTING USERS: Horseshoe Curve for £2.99 (90% sale)
Strange, I did it myself only half an hour ago. I wonder if Steam have put a stop to it.

If anyone wants to do this as well, I'll trade my TS2012 Deluxe as a gift to you, if you gift a copy to me. PMs can cover friend names in Steam etc. Anyone up for it? I'll gift mine first in case you're worried about a rip off.

Darpor, strangely nothing in my Inventory seems clickable. I have a Portal 2 Bionic Beanie in my Portal 2 inventory tab that does nothing as well. Maybe my Steam client is kaput... I'll have a try at a reinstall or something.
I can still Gift Exchange with anyone if that's OK.

Belay my gift exchange request. Anyone already owning TS2012 can't receive it as a bleedin' gift. Looks like someone will get more TS2012 than I have as a gift from me some time. Unless I can sort out the problem, I might just give it away as some kind of competition prize... We'll see.

Heh, I knew there must be some way...
Anyway steam was having awful inventory issues yesterday; I still have items which I'd successfully traded to someone else, and it took a few hours before I could even open the inventory. It might just be they're being overloaded again.

My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Thank you so much, bought the HSC!
Also bought the NEC, Acela and Genesis for £25 - I'm turning American!
I know how to cure that though, drive a Class 153/150/156. Or all 3.
