Re: On the Train to Yesterday...
Personally I think it is acceptable to enforce a minimum donation only in order to cover any administrative costs incurred. Anything else is payware; be that charity payware, fund-raising payware or anything else.
But that is a side issue, this looks like a very well put together and unusual route and I'll look forward to seeing more of it.

Can we please now get back on topic?FoggyMorning wrote:Personally I think it is acceptable to enforce a minimum donation only in order to cover any administrative costs incurred. Anything else is payware; be that charity payware, fund-raising payware or anything else.
I am not even an official representative of G-TraX. If you have a problem with the labeling, then simply don't donate or buy or whatever you want to call it, but stop hijacking threads about different matters.
Thank you.
Thanks Paul. That means a lot to us.RSPaul wrote:Me too, absolutely brillient!

I'll just direct you to your own post from yesterday.micaelcorleone wrote:Can we please now get back on topic?FoggyMorning wrote:Personally I think it is acceptable to enforce a minimum donation only in order to cover any administrative costs incurred. I hardly see how discussing the remuneration that may be required for the route is hijacking the thread either.micaelcorleone wrote: Sometimes it would be better if some people read everything on a page.![]()
As for not being an official representative of G-Trax - how is this relevant, since this is called (agin, in your own words) a Community Project.

Re: On the Train to Yesterday...
The intention of this thread actually was to inform about and announce this project.FoggyMorning wrote:I hardly see how discussing the remuneration that may be required for the route is hijacking the thread either.![]()
The question arose whether this would become payware or freeware. I answered that such a decision has not been made yet.
The discussion about the donation thing is in fact not a discussion about the route itself because people questioned the distribution policy of G-TraX in general.micaelcorleone wrote:But as mentioned above, there is no decision yet.
And that's not the issue this thread has been opened for.
I guess this thread has run its course. You are informed about the project.
If anybody wishes any further information about the route's progress, please visit this thread on RWA or the G-TraX website from now on.
Everyone with interest in that project: Please excuse for the inconvenience of having to go to other sites now.
I'm jolly well fed up with this thread.
Moderator, can you please lock this topic? Thank you.

Re: On the Train to Yesterday...
That's an interesting stance you've taken there.
Having read the G-Trax website it appears that it will be payware; but with the proceeds going towards a good cause.
That is fine; and I have to say that from the screenshots it looks like it would be worth every penny and I wish all the content creators involved all the best in developing this route.
However to purposefully alienate part of your customer base because you don't like what is being fed back about how your chosen distributor operates seems a little bit strange to me.
I'll follow this project with interest and make a decision as to whether I think it is worth purchasing on release and look forward to viewing more screenshots & development details here on UKTS. If you can't be bothered to do so; then your "good cause" is more likely to miss out. Is up to you; however I am sure that everybody here would be delighted to follow the progress of this project.
To be honest; I suspect that some of this has been blown out of proportion due to the fact that the USA uses a different variety of English where things don't always mean the same as they do in (British) English.

Re: On the Train to Yesterday...
Hi Michael
It would be appreciated by many of us if you could still post updates on UKTS.
We are interested in this project and I am sure there will be no particular problem in the way finally chosen to release to the public, whatever that is.

Re: On the Train to Yesterday...
Hi micaelcorleone,
Please do keep posting information here. What ever distribution method / payware / donationware or freeware etc that is chosen there are people that will be interested as well as people who do not agree with the chosen method.
The Payware / Freeware discussion often brings up opposing views. I think there is room for everyone.
Please lets continue the discussion of this project but as the questions regarding distribution and payware or freeware seem to have had a fair airing (and answering) already I think it is time to move the discussion onto a different area relating to this route. Might I suggest posting a screenshot or two on the thread Michael so those of us who frequent UKTS more than RWA etc can see what it is all about?
Thanks
Jim

Yes, please keep the updates coming for those of us who appreciate what the team are doing. Not everyone here posts at RWA.
As regards the payment issue, would just say sorry that my simple question seems to have led to a rather forthright discussion - just for the record my query was totally innocent and simply to establish the type of distribution. I suspect "donationware" has become a slightly contentious issue as this seems to have been used in the US to label asset packs which need to be purchased to run an otherwise freeware route (i.e. shareware), rather than *correctly* to mean a sum going to charity etc.

Apologies Micaelcorleone
Just re-read my post and forgot to say how good the route is looking. Hope you keep us informed of how it's going.

Phil

For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it

True, although I'd find it hard replacing Ben's CKPR screenshot I've got on my desktop.bigvern wrote:Or desktop wallpaper!
