Point Lights turning off

I'm trying to resolve an issue I'm having with point lights in a route turning off, and would appreciate if anyone else has had the same issue.

This has happened to me about 5 times now, so i'm considering it to be an actual issue.

Point lights that i've placed in routes seem to turn off after a while. The gizmo for the light remains in the route, and adding exactly the same light in the editor emits light, even though the same light installed previously does not. This is verified by clicking on both and the same .xml filename shows in the right hand flyout.

The lights that seem to suffer are my own version of the point light from

however they are just the default with the daynight line from the default spotlight added - that doesn't seem to have the same issue. I am fairly certain I have experienced the same issue with default point light as well though.

The usual steps of verify cache and deleting bak files have been done with no difference. I'm trying to find what triggers this - I will investigate whether applying the AP lighting (time of day) pack is causing it, as that is the only thing I can think of that I've changed in the route that is at all related.

Any thoughts gratefully recieved.

Ben

I had the same problem as you with lights I added the line too. Question for you are you using the same scenario and changing the time from day to night and back again or do you have two separate scenario's one with day time and one with night? I was using one with changing the time and I think that was the problem but not sure.

I have experienced the same issue, but this is with a custom created point light and as yet, have not found a cause. During route building, a whole station has just plunged into darkness yet the next station a mile down the line has retained the lights. I also believe Keith Ross was having issues with lighting, not sure if it is the same issue.

I don't have the AP lighting pack, so it's probably unrelated.

My understanding is that there is a bug! The lights are being turned to an off state on a tile by tile basis - possibly something to do with the asset population on the tile.
I am hopeful that a fix will be coming soon.

Ah, that would make sense as to why only one station disappeared. Yes, a fix would be marvellous.

HI

Yes indeed I am having the same issue.

At this stage it seems to me that you can only have one copy of a particular light asset in a route. Whereas I was placing multiple copies of my own created point light in a route and changing the properties of each one by right clicking on my point light base object, I have now found that if I create a new blueprint for each version of the light I need, thus only having one object per blueprint in the route, the lights keep glowing ..... so far anyway. I also have limited the use of the default point light to one in my route which also seems to keep glowing after multiple loads of the route.

I may be on the wrong trail, and all the lights will go out suddenly, but so far that has not happened.

Interesting find, Geoff. If the lights go out again I'll give that a try.

Is there any Documentation about using the new Lights. There seems to be a bit of confusion around this issue. I don't want to start adding the new lights to The Central Route and then finding I have to do it all again after an Update or because of mistakes I have made myself unknowingly.
Kind regards James.
