The Steam Subscriber Agreement is the license for Tornado, Flying Scotsman and any other locomotives supplied or sold through Steam, and is agreed to before purchase. The rules about modifying content basically boil down to a blanket prohibition on distributing modifications unless permission is granted beforehand. RS.com seem to have made a general rule that reskins are okay, and that sound modifications are okay, while Totalize/Thomson have specified that only files which are 100% the uploader's own work are to be uploaded and Oovee have specified that modifications/reksins for the HST buffers pack are not to be released. To be on the safe side and to show good faith towards content creators I would recommend requesting permission before uploading anything that contains any work by anybody else.AndyUK wrote:Are you sure there's nothing wrong with that? Does the license for the payware, or freeware for that matter, you're distributing modified files for permit that? If I were you I'd ask the producer for a copy of the license, if you don't already have one, and check it carefully. Some seem not to include copies with the download and don't seem to provide access to them on their websites either, but in law that may not be an excuse for breaking the terms of the license.92212 wrote:...The loco's .bin files are modified and included, but there's nothing wrong with that....

I'd say the whistle was alright, I mean come on, an early RS demo clip showed it shared the Black5 whistle.
But the rest sounds out of touch. Far to clear a chuff, not to mention lack of loud weesh etc.

Am I right in thinking you made the 56xx sounds Matt? They are very good but possibly some more realistic chuffs with your 2nd valve magic could be added?

I assisted Pete initially. Pete then used what I did as basis to do his own with a better quality sound source! I hadn't developed my 2nd valve technique at that point so, yeah I may consider doing that, but sound sources are an issue!

I'll be off to see 6619 at some point in the early part of next year and would be willing to donate any footage I get of it. If that is of any use then you're welcome to have whatever I get...92212 wrote:I assisted Pete initially. Pete then used what I did as basis to do his own with a better quality sound source! Oooo that'll be good! I believe 6619 sounds a little different to the other 56xx's but it's worth a try!

The 7F is still out in front...........................I should be charging £1 per vote, and allow as many votes as you want! That way, someone who's got money to spend could easily rig the vote!!
.......................and I'd be rich!!............**clears throat**...............I mean, have the money to spend getting really good recordings!!
If anyone has read the latest Steam Railway magazine, you'll know where I get the idea from!!

PS - I realised this topic had dropped to page 3 already!
So I'm just writing twaddle to bump this up again!
There's soooo many stickies, that threads disappear off of page 1 in no time!!

Just unstickied a couple that were a little out of date. Please do feel free to let us know of anything that does not need to be sticky any more.92212 wrote:There's soooo many stickies, that threads disappear off of page 1 in no time!!

If anyone is interested _ Stanier 8F sounds
May not to be to everyone's liking - but watch 'Terror on a Train' 1953 Glenn Ford starring - Stanier 8F sounds are quite well in evidence pulling and shunting wagons

p.s has been on the TCM (turner classic movies) channel sometimes.....

Just managed to get time to play with the 4f sounds.I notched up the volume and jumped in the cab, leaned out and opened the cylinder cocks, on the right away I released the brake and opened the regulator ................I still have ringing in my ears from the deafening roar of the cylinder cocks
Fab!!!!
Great soundset Matt, thankyou.

I am very much looking forward to your 7f sound set Matt, but I was wondering how your updated Black 5 sound set is coming along that you uploaded to your You Tube channel some time back?
