Hello All,
I have deceided to change my PC, however, I worry how easy it is to port Railworks over to another machine without the usual weeping and gnashing of teeth. I purchased the original disc can I load up from this or is there another way. I have regular back up so I will not lose my data. Can anyone advise!!
One other question is Railworks a 64 Bit system ? I understand this allows for the use of more memory
Thanks

If you have that steam guard thing activated on steam you might want to deactivate before you get the new PC cause basically it's a pain in the bum whenever you want to run steam on another computer.

It not too hard to do.
If you have something like an external USB hard-drive, then copy over your whole "
steamapps" folder onto it, then plug it into your new computer, and copy the
steamapps folder into your Steam folder there (Have the Steam-client installed on your new computer, but don't have it running while you're doing the transfer).
I've done this a couple of times before and it works fine. It saves a lot of time and bandwidth compared to needing to re-download all of your Steam-bought games again. Though after doing such a transfer, I might recommended doing a "Verify integrity of game cache" of each game transfered this way before running them;
Example of how to do that; From your Steam-client on your new computer, games Library, right-click on a game on the list (in this case Train Simulator 2012), Properties, Local Files, then Verify integrity of game cache.
Here's an idea of how you might go about doing a transfer of games from one hard drive or computer to another:

Also, from what I can tell, RailWorks is still considered a 32-bit app even when running on 64-bit systems.

It is in fact very easy indeed, and there's more than one way to do it. Before you begin, check using your old machine that your e-mail address is correct and current - SteamGuard requires this. Whatever you do, do not create a second Steam account - just log into your existing one.
If you have any non-Steam addons installed, including any of your own work, you should copy the old installation to the new one. All you need is a disk big enough to hold your entire Steam folder (that is, "C:\Program Files\Steam") - you can temporarily wire the old disk into your new machine if necessary, or you can archive it to a USB flash drive using 7-Zip (which tends to make Railworks about 4x smaller), or even copy it over a local network. Unzip it in the same place you got it from, but on your new PC. Then start Steam.exe as Administrator, and it should get it's bearings on your new machine, prompt you to log in and appease SteamGuard... and that's it.
The other way is simply to install the Steam Client from steampowered.com, log in to it, and prompt it to install Railworks from scratch. It will then download the whole thing, including any Steam-based DLC you have bought. This will consume several gigabytes of Internet bandwidth and therefore take some time, but it gets you a clean installation without any fuss.

And if he just disables SteamGuard he won't have to worry about any of that, that was why I suggested it in the first place.
