An interesting video indeed.

One thing I noticed in my experiments was that where water was in a small hollow or came up to a shallow bank, it blended into the bank much better in TSX mode than in Legeacy Mode which tended to have a very noticeable straight line where the water decal disappeared into the terrain bank.

I do prefer the colours that RW2 gave as the more realistic dark shades of TSX are a bit depressing especially with the slightly blurred effect that TSX gives. It would be nice if Legacy Mode could at least match the colour and brightness level of RW2 but at the moment it is too garish although perhaps a much more cheerful alternative to the dull and lifeless dark world of TSX.

Just my own view of course :D

RW3 Legacy Mode. WCML North Carlisle Stn.
Driver level AA (16xS + 2x Sparse Grid Supersampling). In game settings MAXED!
Frame rate is the same as TSX with (ssaa: 2x2, particle: low, passengers: low, shaders: low, view distance: high, textures: highest, water: low, object: highest, scenery: 10, shadows: high)
However, the colours and lighting in legacy mode are bad. Seriously considering going back to RW2, locking the door and throwing away the key. :D

(you think 16xS is sharp you should have seen 32xS    )

I do agree that the colours are washed out turning down the brightness will help. I have also used the settings on my graphics cand and made a new profile. All of these things have helped of course its not perfect

Hi Vern. Not very good, Pentium 4, I built a while ago, Rampage Extreme v1 (not overclocked) 4Gb Ram ATI 4850 1Mb Graphics Card, 4 Raptor discs, 2 raid 0, 2 raid 1. 2 VDU. Which I wish I could use with RW but cant configure. Its really odd that RW went for the Matrox Idea and didnt allow for 2 VDU via the Graphics card , which if its a half decent one (which is has to be) has 2 outputs of its own, I have a second Crossfire card to give me 4 Vdu but never used it as RW didnt cater for it, so only used it once on Flight Sim.

Interesting. I'm running a q6600 and 9800gtx and I can't get the frame rates you are getting!

Well, I haven't even bothered with legacy, the game was hyped up for us to utilise the new toys, such as raindrops, is there any point in obtaining it and not playing it in that mode, I grant you that it was free for RW2 users, but, using legacy means I'll personally miss out on the new extras otherwise, so, I can only vote for TSX.

Cheerz. Transport Steve.

As Railworks 3 graphics engine is based on Nvidia Physx may not be much room for improvement.Perhaps rs com should have gone with Microsoft
XNA framework as Open Rails What do you think
