PS, if anyone would like to see the differences between RW2 RW3 TSX and RW3 Legacy, I'm happy to put a short video together showing the differences on the SAME PC.
Re: TSX or Legacy Which do you prefer?
Yeah, that would be interesting to see!

I think this would be interesting if you can take the time to do this. It seems that we all see something slightly different due to our various computer set ups and a common reference point might be useful.

Re: TSX or Legacy Which do you prefer?
I must admit I am still not sure. Legacy runs well on my main Machine and TSX runs very badly. TSX seems to be more realistic but it does seem to produce some blurring. I posted an example of this on another Topic somewhere. I am thinking of trying to get a new Machine when I have saved up the money but am still unsure if it will be worth it. From what Geoff and some others have said it may not. I did see Derek's post on the new Core Updates so that does hold out some hope in the future.
Kind regards James.

I do like running TSX but on some the locos like the 56xx, it's impossible for me to see the gauges...so for these I use Legacy mode.

I use Legacy mode all the time now, frame rate is up in the 70's coupled with ultra sharp assets rendering at 32xAA/8x supersampling (forced)IMO it looks better than TSX mode.

Re: TSX or Legacy Which do you prefer?
I'm torn.
TSX:
Pros: Looks great. Shadows add depth. Night time looks more realistic (especially with the AP packs),
Cons: Geee, lemme think...Overhead looks primitive. Runs exponentially worse at less than half settings overall than Battlefield 3 MAXED OUT on my non Direct X 11 card.
Legacy:
Pros: Looks no much different colour-wise than TSX. Unbelievably fast and stable with no stuttering MAXED OUT and with INSANE drive level AA enhancements.
Cons: Night looks awful. Shadows look bad compared to TSX.

Re: TSX or Legacy Which do you prefer?
Legacy - it looks better than TSX with it spangly artifactyness
SSAA unless whacked up to 3x3 is a joke, but then the joke's on me cos I'm down to low frames even at 4.1GHz
However, even 3x3 results in shimmering and there's nowt worse than a shimmering slideshow

Not trying to knock your system Geoff, it is indeed a very good spec but not amazing. My worry is that others will read and take 'amazing' to mean 'absolutely the best that money can buy' and lose heart thinking they will have to find/beg/borrow/purloin a huge sum of money to get this game running as they want, particularly as you've stated that you still see distortions etc.Acorncomputer wrote:i7 CPU 930@2.8GHz, 2794 Mhz, 4 Core, 8 Logical Processors

How much do you have to spend then to get a super computerNot trying to knock your system Geoff, it is indeed a very good spec but not amazing
I have just spent three hours trying different combinations of settings ranging from headache inducing distortion in TSX to very much smoother but cruder displays in legacy mode.
Limiter settings at 25 produce a jerky performance in TSX but a limit of 30 produces a much smoother flow.
Overall, Legacy mode still produces a better perfomance for me but I am not happy

Can't see what is wrong with that system really. It would be amazing for the person who owns it and maybe not to others though :/ My system in terms of 'Moderness' is no were near amazing but for me it is.gptech wrote:Acorncomputer wrote:I have just set up my new desktop computer that has amazing specsNot trying to knock your system Geoff, it is indeed a very good spec but not amazing. If any upgrade best one is to get more ram up to 12gb, as that is a tripple channel motherboard with the i7 chips.
@Acorncomputer not sure if you tried it, but perhaps run it in windowed mode at various settings, as that gets the best performance for my system and for the limitation of my system (Graphics).
