Just need to read the info provided - the new scenario is APSLP: 1V50 20:00 Newcastle - Bristol Temple Meads. :)

And for those who've been asking about how they're used, have a play; I now have a number of yards all lit up as well as spotlights, signs, hoardings, etc. It is possible to go a bit mental and equally possibly to utterly kill performance stone dead by ticking the "casts shadows" option when you create the lights (oops...) but it's incredibly atmospheric.

The real genius here is not so much what RSC have done in creating the lighting, but Richard Armstrong for taking something we were all given as part of the free upgrade and selling it back to us :D (said somewhat tongue-in-cheek as, having added a few of my own lights, I know how tedious and time-consuming an exercise it is ;))

Yes great pack indeed, saves a lot of manual effort and therefore worth a fiver.
I finished the scenario yesterday and experienced no issues.

Thanks, was looking at Ox-Pad, no wonder!
Certainly makes a big difference with the lighting, wonder if street lamps and towns/cities can cast that "glow"?

Imagine how much worse it is when you're placing the lights via the co-ordinate system of child objects! :o :)

I don't know if you are aware, but the station lights have also been applied to Hagen-Siegen, and the BR101 loco has RW3 lights/wipers.
If you run the scenario Sleep Tight (change the weather to something with rain first, eg RW_Cloudy_Showers) you should get a nice surprise.
Hagen-Siegen isn't quite completely lit - Siegen, end canopies at Hagen, and yards are not lit, but it is 99%.
Richard, why did you hide your light under a bushel?

I think that's because scenario time turns 6 am before you get there, and lights are only on frm 6pm to 6 am.

This is awesome. This add on together with the now 'beaming' headlights (thanks RSC) and the cab lights for the 47 and the HST (thanks zhubuntu) driving at night becomes a real pleasure and a wonderful experience. Amazing how these 'islands of light' now appear at the horizon or around some dark corner...The station lighting even lights the inside of the cab and fades away when your (diesel) loco plunges back into the dark of night. I also drove the wartime black A4 scenario over the Mendips (S&D) where you start around 5:30 AM; the station lights are still on, actually go out at 6:00 AM, only to be greeted by the rising sun that puts some orangy morning light on your black A4....try that one, you will be amazed.... 8) Well done Richard (Armstrong), another great add on from AP :D 8).

I have a cloned and customised Bath-templecombe route, more scenery and clutter etc, and the lighting pack works with that and looks great. Money well spent in my opinion.

After seeing the announcement and the screenshots, I couldn't stop myself from buying this fabulous patch!

This adds a lot of atmosphere to the ride. Exactly what I was wanting for! :-)

I also picked up two other enhancements packs on my way to the checkout :-)

Now, it would be nice, if also some of the coach windows would be lit in the morning and evening hours, and some of the windows in the homes... Not at night, of course, at night the homes should be dark -- everyone's asleep. But around 6-8am and 6-10pm some windows in the homes should be lit, and it would be really neat if such a patch like this could also achieve that :-)

Also, the platforms on the S&D don't seem to have any platform lights. Is that prototypical? It would be nice if there were more lights along the platforms... :-)

Also 1 suggestion for improvements in the installers of the packs: It would be nice if the installers for the AP packs could pick up the actual Steam install location, and not assume a default of C:\Program Files\Steam\etc. The installers for the UKTS Freeware Content Packs know where I have installed Steam / RailWorks. (D:\Games\Steam\etc), so it's not something impossible, and would make installations much easier... :-)

Kind regards and congrats on a job very well done,

Just curios?

I did a 'verify' this morning and was surprised when 48 files were re-loaded!

When I came to run the sim later all the night-lighting had gone? Cleared the cache, tried again and still no trace.

On closer examination I found that all the files installed in the RailSimulator/scenery & Stations folders (previously installed with the AP enhancement) had been overwritten by default files? When I re-installed the Enhancement pack all the lights were restored.

As far as I know the files downloaded were not updates??

Trav ..... :-)

This is explained in the readme files and on the AP website:

"Important Information

Steam Compatibility

Due to the way Train Simulator 2012 works with Steam, every time it updates, it overwrites any edited core files which means this enhancement pack may stop functioning. By buying this pack then, you accept that you may have to reinstall every time Train Simulator 2012 updates OR turn Train Simulator 2012 updates off by going offline on Steam and only updating when you really have to. More information is given within the manual on how to do this. "

Thank you for that. Yes indeed, I did read all the provided documents and that is why I said this:

... in other words, the downloaded files were not new and are dated BEFORE the enhancement files. My interpratation is they are not updates.

But doesn't the cache verify not just put everything to a default state anyway? I cannot say I have taken too much notice myself.
