I might be missing it blatantly but where do I limit Framerate? I can't find the option in the Launcher or ingame, I'm assuming it's somewhere else? (I checked, and I'm on v7.1a, which is correct.)

Well I've a bit of good news and a bit of bad news with the new update tonight.
NEC no longer runs at all with TSX, even with the minimum of settings, so that's D.O.A. for me.
But I've just tried the P42 on the SWC on SB to Barstow and it's running fine with the new headlights, framerates are up by about 50%.
( don't know about rain, because it doesn't in Southern California. ) :P

You set it through "Settings" tab and then on the right in the Command Line Options box. You can choose to check either 30 or 60. I just ran a short route with it checked at 30, and it's even smoother than the Dxtory external limiter. In fact, it's glass smooth. I think I might have seen a total of one stutter the whole (short) route. Even when frames dropped below the 30, it stayed smooth. Glass smooth. Finally able to keep the illusion that I'm in a moving vehicle rather than watching pixels move on a screen. Thanks for that RSC. I'm a happy camper!

Thanks, I don't know how I missed it. 8)

NEC does run for me, but it's a bit of a slideshow at the usual settings on my main PC - just as bad as the worst parts of WCML-N. That's really not good.

I might try it at lower settings to see if it improves, but given that I can see less scenery on most of NEC than on most of Bristol-Exeter, yet the framerates are about a quarter as good, there is clearly something wrong here.

It seemed to run better for me prior to this weeks update. Finding lots of 'shimmering' on the track but only at switches. Is it just me, or is there a pogo-stick on speed in the cab now? I just didn't recall the sway to be as 'jerky' as it is now. Love the lights now, just wish I could get above 14 fps again. Went and ran a 'benchmark' on Paddington and was back up in the 50-70 fps range (even with the 30 fps lock set) so I know its not my rig.

Kind regards,
Dave

Yep.. NEC is the clear winner right now in the "Worst performing route on the entire platform" category.

Handy dandy graph!

It's the lights they threw in the NEC..

I deleted my lights folder and the improvement is ridiculous.. I mean, literally ridiculous.

Benchmark before deleting lights folder.

Same benchmark after deleting lights folder.

Let me guess, shadow-casting lights. I saw a similar magnitude of improvement when I turned off shadows - though as my main PC isn't quite as powerful as yours, it was only to an average of 14-15 fps (averaged over the entire Keystone scenario).

That's the thing. I checked the blueprints of all the lights used and fixed some of them because they were casting shadows, and some weren't set to day/night cycle but that didn't help at all. It was still dreadful. I think it's just an asset overload to be honest.

I think the NEC update is scheduled for today.

Got it here in the UK last night, just before midnight BST.

FPS limiter working great for me too. Got it set to 25 and i only get micro stutters on sections were i normally got the highest rates.

Still have serious problems with extremely low FPS when passing any other trains. Even if it's just one train.

How do you set the fps limiter to 25? I only have selections of 30 or 60 in the command line options under the settings tab.

When RW3 first came out I found reinstalling PhysX calmed the cab movement down somewhat; don't have a clue why, but there you go.
