As a steam-era fan I might equally complain about RSC's modern image focus. But that would be short sighted. A broader field brings a bigger community, more expertise, better tools and more DLC dollars to support development of the core sim. And I am quite enjoying some of the US stuff.

I think the US focus is great for those simmers from the States, as it is bringing more people to the community.

Myself not a massive fan of American Railroading, but will pick up the NEC & Acela when on sale hopefully at christmas time.
Also looking forward to future european projects as well, as it is nice to see the UK taking the back step considering the amount of stuff we have already had :)

Rising Storm -Name is in the credits :D - To Do scenario, where you go along at 50mph in a Pendo? Who would play it?
Anyone want to help in Play Testing future Rising Storm/ Ro2 Maps? If so please PM me.

It seems the Modern US scene is pretty covered by RSC and Third party developers, but it's lacking in the Steam Era department. There's a lot a variety there that gives ample opportunity to model unique and fantastic locomotives.

A common mistake of thinking is that the U.S. has the NEC and 5,000 `boring' freight routes and nothing else. :)

We have all sorts of lines.

DMU

EMU third rail

Tram

Loco pulled west coast service (Surfliner)

Overhead wire light rail

And this is just a small sample from modern times. Nevermind past equipment and lines. All sorts of interesting stuff over here. :)

We have a lot of heritage steam still running as well, particularly in the west.

Surfliner for the win! I am sure RSC would need to send Adam and Derek to the West Coast to do the research :).

Vern,

Are you aware of this site? http://users.eastlink.ca/~othen/steam/steam.htm

Couldn't guarantee all of the information is up-to-date but I know the steam locos in Stettler and Winnipeg are still running, having ridden them both in the last few years.

Regards,

Bob.

Oh, and Budd RDC's were the sexiest DMU (type) trains ever made. Budd Company was legendary.

1:43 for a rare and beautifully shot run through of the Cape May swing bridge in action.

Thanks for this! Gotta save some bread now and make the trip out there. Much closer than BC!

VIA Rail still has some of these preserved. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lKK9KDMq2I

I think Cn has a couple in use as MOW equipment too.

Some Budd RDC-1 units made their way to Australia, where their success was defined mostly by the influence they had on future Australian designs for long-distance passenger service.

Why do that when one of their 3rd party suppliers have already made the route back in MSTS days and must've done a lot of research back then?
