Glow in the dark buildings would be handy if you were modelling Sellafield though.......

I want to say thank you Mark

This is part of Mark's PM to me

Reading your computer specifications and taking advice from Gary (gptech), it's fairly obvious that your graphics card is the weakest part. I have a Nvidia 8800 Ultra card that's about 3 times the power of your current card - that I'm willing to let you have provided that it would actually fit in your case, it's a long card at 10 3/4" you see!

Do you have anyone that can physically check that the card would fit your PC's case and fit it should you decide?
Power requirements are 2 x 6-pin power plugs, if your power supply doesn't have these already I can supply adapters.

Whilst this upgrade will certainly help the general running of the game and allow a better experience in TSX mode, it's not a solution to all problems.
Glowing buildings will always glow until you are able to get the source files updated by the bloke who made the models, or if not by passing the source files to Derek who's also offered to help.

Just trying to help out where I can, let me know.

Mark (glowball)

Once again thank you very much I am very humbled

Regards

I have started thinking about my next project, The Bluebell Railway, and have just checked out the route I had already created in RW.

Just for reference (in Legacy mode) -

Tinted brown landscape and burnt out colours on a default item -

I have just changed the terrain referencing in The Bluebell Railway to my own terrain textures and the brown tint turns to a green tint.

I know that have set the distant hills in the terrain blueprint to a dark green so perhaps the default terrain set has brown for the distant hills. It does seem, however, that whatever the colour that has been set, it is showing up too soon.

Again, just for information really as RS.com must be on to this already -

However if the base colour was made more green it would be less noticable. Like I said this is being looked into.

I've not forgotten. Just having some difficulty finding the original source files!!! If I don't find them soon I'll remake them from scratch.

Thanks for posting the pictures Geoff. It illustrates the problems perfectly. Likewise Theo. The orange brick texture seems to suffer more than the darker wall textures.
Kind regards James

I have gone back to a few of my models and it is possible to reduce the burnt out look by making the texture sheet quite a few shades darker. It is just a bit of a mystery as to why this effect (even in some default models) is making an appearance now.

In case anyone is wondering why there is a Chimney in the middle of nowhere, the Chimney in my shots is located precisely at the ticket office at Sheffield Park which makes it easier to spot when flying round the route :D

I used a lot of Chimney's on my Route :D. I had to fly around a lot and found a few I had not deleted when testing.
Kind regards James.

Hi all,

Geoff, I am still having the same problems with colours being made lighter in 2012 than they were in RailWorks2.
Legacy mode shows my assets correctly coloured.
It must have some thing to do with the new way that every asset is displayed by the new game engine.
I have seen shadows running at 90 degrees to the suns position in open ground with nothing around to make to shadow possible.
Kind regards
Mike

Hi Mike

When TS2012 was first released, there were shadows in all directions in Legacy Mode. You could have two trees next to each other with shadows going in opposite directions but there was an update some time ago that (should have) fixed this. I cannot turn shadows on in Legacy or TSX Mode, even on my new super laptop, without the program running very slowly so I will not be bothered by any adverse effects. :D

Just a couple of pictures that illustrate a problem with the Glass Texture I used on my Montrose building. The building is only half textured due to difficulty of finding a suitable texture for the outside Walls.
RW 3 both Modes.

Weird herringbone pattern when looking through the glass either way.

RW 2

Oh dear :( :(
Geoff and Bob will remember how long it took to get the glass right. :-?
I don't have 3DC on this machine ATM so I can't check which Shader I used.
Kind regards James.
