24" Samsung TFT at 1980x1200
I run it with CCC with:
8x Anti-Aliasing (full)
16x Anisotropic Filtering (full)
Tessellation on
Texture Filtering on High (full)
Mipmap Detail on Quality (full)
Wait for vertical refresh always on
Anti-Aliasing Mode is Super-sample AA
I get 40-60fps according to fraps, sometimes its jerky for a few seconds when entering a busy area such as paddington
Hi,
Sounds good, although most people, myself included, seem to have better results if CCC options are set to"use application settings", and SSAA tends to kill things in a lot of cases.
Are you running with TSX on or off?

I am running ts2012 without tsx. If i use tsx, i get white terrain and black sky like most people.
I should also point out that im not overclocking my cpu or gpu, however i have two massive custom heatsinks attached to my cpu and gpu. Even here in China summer (30C+) my cpu is running at 39C and gpu at 54C (while running RW3)

Over here I can get Railworks running without TSX at about 30 fps, aloth I keep having issues with the train in veiws "2" and view "1" (Cabview and exterior follow)...the trains just jerks along the track where and in view "8" (free roam/world walk) it seems perfictly fine.
Specs are:
Intel Core i5-2400 quad CPU @ 3.1Ghz (with turo boost thingy on i think it goes to 3.4Ghz)
AMD (XFX) Radeon HD 6450 (2GB version)
4GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM/Memory
1TB Hard Drive 32Mb Cache
Realtek ALC 887 8-Channel HD Audio
Asus P8H 61-M LE Motherboard
I would really like to know how to fix these view lagging/jerking issues, as it gets boring being stuck in view 8 watching my train go by and having to chase after it...

hi nips,
It's a shame you can't try it with TSX on. I use this setting, and it's smoother than TSX off, even with framerates are as low as 20 or so. TSX off is jerky even with fps at 40+. We've got similar systems as far as CPU and GPU go, with yours being superior in both respects.
I'm running the latest AMD GPU drivers, Catalyst 11.9 (although noticed no difference from the original catalyst 11.2), Pixel Shader 5.0 (requires 3.0) and have DirectX11 (although the sim requires DirectX9, and should have updated this if you had lower versions. I also followed all the advice in the RW3 FAQs regarding graphics settings.

Is there anyway to force the fps to say 25? I've noticed that the fps will constantly jump from 15-40 which is causing some of juddering/jumping/pulling/rubber banding or what ever you want to call it! I can't find anything in ATi CCC apart from v sync which doesn't have any affect.

DXTory or a similar frame rate limiter will help smooth out stutters by not processing more frames than it's set to do... thus it has a bit of extra capacity to cope with frame rate dips when they come.
In practice though, if you're dipping down to 14fps like so many are here, you will still get that.

I get the black sky if I haven't set the AA/AF to 'Application Controlled' in the Catalyst setup screen.
Cheers,
Ged

Just to say that DXTory has worked for me. The Edinburgh - Glasgow route had become un-enjoyable to drive due to stutters but this program has made it run great.
Now I can start to enjoy Railworks again.
Thanks to everyone who mentioned DXTory.

Just ran a sort act myself with the fps set to 25, much smoother but still the odd jerk, however its now much more playable. I was about to give up and re-install MSTS from the external

Hello,
You can do the same as DXTory with this command. In Steam, right-click on Train Simulator 2012 and select Properties, Click Set Launch Options... and add the command line illustrated in the image. Substitute the value for whatever you want, the only problem I've found is I forget I've set a limit.
Cheers,
Shad.
