Having downloaded and bought the new Train sim 3,i cannot seem to get my DlC content to work in the sim ,having backed up the Railworks files before
as suggested.i updated my Steam account with a new username and password ,If you do that do you loose all your content DLC that you previously had.
I had the 4F pack The 8f pack the jubillee pack and tornado plus Flying Scotsman>i don't want to pay for all of this again.

Any Suggestions

Try your old steam username and password and very cache. It thinks your someone else who didn't buy the DLC.

If you've lost your password, get steam to reset it for you.

Why did you buy Railworks 3 if you already had Railworks ? You would have got a free upgrade anyway.

Your DLC is tied to your old Steam account so why did you create a new one ?

It's not possible to update / change a Steam username, therefore if I've understood correctly you've created a new Steam account and purchased Railworks 3 as a standalone product. This means you now have a Steam account with only Railworks 3 associated to it (your previously-purchased DLC being associated to your old account). As an existing Railworks user, you receive Railworks 3 as a free, automatic upgrade. You simply need to login to your old Steam account and it will start downloading. I'm afraid there was no requirement for you to purchase anything. Your DLC will still be on your old account and will work with Railworks 3.

Best to e-mail steam and explain the situation I think, as if you log on to steam on your old account, it will download your dlc but it may then delete the Horseshoe Curve as it won't credit you on your old log in as owning it.

It will not delete it (because it's not aware that Horseshoe Curve should even be there) but it will prevent access from within the game as it is a DLC item available only through the Steam Store or by adding an access code to a Steam account.

Please be aware that having multiple Steam accounts is a breach of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, so I agree it's probably best to lodge a support ticket explaining that the second account was created by mistake and needs to be closed. If you're lucky they may even transfer the Horseshoe Curve DLC to the pre-existing account but don't count any chickens before they hatch because going by the letter of the SSA they have the right to close both accounts without notice.

I sent a messgae via Steam Last night but still no reply via Email.I was not aware about having two accounts,the latest post does seem a bit harsh
how many other Steam users are aware of this.Ok on my old account i tryed updating my new email but it wouldn;t accept it.I have gone through
the same procedure with a new account as if i had a new computer.So with Steam it seems to me if you change your Email you lose your DLC
content.I think Steam needs to be more user freindly.In fact i have had my old account since the Original Railworks.Ok so i would lose Steam

You did so, yes, but why did you buy another copy of Railworks? You seem to be making out that despite you making your own mistake, it is somehow the fault of others.

And no, it wouldn't happen with MSTS, that was never upgraded and offered to you for free. I don't see how that is relevant.

Hi,

Your steam account and DLC is linked to you Steam user id and not to whatever email address you might have at any particular time.

I don't know if this how you tried to change the email address but this link details the steps to do so.

Ok the reason i bought railworks 3 was for backup i then reailised that the horseshoe curve was included in the boxed version so i installed it,but then
on the website it said only the deluxe version with the curve.I then could not reopen my account

Anyway it runs Ok on my machine

Heaven forbid if i buy a new computer what then

The same as anyone else.

You would install Steam, which would then let you download Railworks and any DLC you had bought. Presuming of course this is on a single account.

Certainly enough know that the answer is nearly instant each time somebody asks "how can I transfer games to my new account" on the Steam forums. You indicated you are each time you purchased a DLC item...



Going on previous statistics gathered by a different computer game retailer, it's probably about 15% of people.
