RS 2012....

Post by 66581Sophie »

Right then, Boys, (and girls?),
Here I am, sitting in a Signalbox in Lincs, and have just had my super dooper new, NASA spec, PC delivered at home, by my PC builder. Unfortunately, I am having to work my Rest Day today and tomorrow to pay for it, not even seen it yet.
Anyhoo, I have been reading with great dispair the various, and by the sound of it not too convincing reviews, of something that has seemed to take forever to arrive, namely TS2012.
Gutted, (blindly), that its seeming to be a massive migraine for most folks.
Has anybody, at all managed to get acceptable results with TS12 yet, as, I will not be home till gone 2330, and have to install Railworks off the DVD onto my new PC, and it wont even be RW2, just the original.
BUT, then, PLEASE, is their any recommendations, for me to make the leap from my safe haven of RW1, and install RS12, as I am fear struck as to do it now, or wait.
The main point of my jabbering is, is it working acceptable for anybody?
Spent a lot on new Pc/GFX card etc, and watching these 156/158s thrashing up and down past me, leaves me in wonder if I will ever see life as the boys driving them do, through the drivers window, especially at any point tonight.
Are there any STRONG RECOMMENDATIONS out there to do straight away to get it going, read most of the forums and saved a few snippets and printed out for my arrival at home.
HELP ME PLEASE.

Yes, frame rates are slightly slower than they were for RW2 but for the extra details and realism it's worth it!

I know it is your first post here, but what does that mean exactly?

A product that was promised on a date and arrived on that date.

Hi 66581Sophie and welcome to the Forum,

I can only speak for myself, but so far I have been well chuffed (pun intended  ) with TS2012. It downloaded and installed a treat and with what little time I have had to spare today, I have really enjoyed driving the revamped Class 47 on Newcastle-York, admired the new lighting effects whilst driving on the Bath-Templecombe with the 'default' Black 5. My final trial was to check that WCML North loaded OK (which it did). Lots yet to explore and try, so it should be a good weekend, I also hope to 'try out the new AI coupling and uncoupling feature which specially interests me. Finally I really liked the revamped Class 47 and Rolling Stock new sounds and driving in the rain with the added cab sway (which does seem a bit too exaggerated for me) is certainly different.

Hope you get on alright with your new P/C and can enjoy TS2012 yourself soon.

Wasnt sniping, and was mis-read Darpor, meant that, since the release was announced, I have wanted nothing more than the days to pass, and for us to arrive at the update date, so I could get in the cab and see the rain, (amongst other improvements).

Thanks Lads for the nice reception, upon the Forum, and the genuinely, and appreciated information, ie how its running for you.
I was just gutted, that, a) I missed the launch at 0100 this morn, because my PC wasnt ready, and, b) that I still, now havent had the joys that behold me, because of having to work today, to pay for it..
Does anybody know if there are any issues with Raildriver, OR can I just plug it to USB and go.
Thanks in advance.

Ah ok, I hear you.

Raildriver could be a tricky one, it wasn't the most receptive for some stock at the best of times and out of the hundreds of posts today, I have seen no mention of it. I'd take that as no news is good news for now. :D

Ha ha ha..
Spent a few quid in anticipation Roger, because, Ive been into trains all my life and signalled them for 20 years, so its nice to see the other side of my actions, ie through a drivers window.
I really hope it all goes well later, Lord knows what time I will get to bed tonight/tomorrow morning, just cant wait, sat here now for another hour waiting for the last train to clear, then got a 40 min drive home.
Been so keen for this update since it was announced.
Fingers crossed it all goes swimmingly.
