Granted, Ben's 390 is a lovely thing anyway, but I find it amusing the amount of commentary the Hitachi unit is generating (not here, necessarily) compared to some of the more important stuff.

Still, if it shuts up some of the jingoistic voices on Failbook bemoaning that TS2012 is "too American" then that's a bonus as far as I'm concerned...

Rik.
To be fair though Rik, there is nothing to work from other than a shell at the moment. As time progresses, the Woodcock video revealed that as Hitachi develop the plans, RSC will then receive and update accordingly. Potentially its a good project as long as it isn't forgotten.
Which is fantastic that will be happening. Also gives an idea to the public what it may look like as well moving as well as any major changes done to it.

Rising Storm -Name is in the credits :D - To Do scenario, where you go along at 50mph in a Pendo? Who would play it?
Anyone want to help in Play Testing future Rising Storm/ Ro2 Maps? If so please PM me.

On the scenario return ticket on the class 166 why am I not seing the rain on the window? Ive tried lots of graphics options even highest detail but cant get the water to appear on the glass........

Are not all trains showing the new feature? or am I being a simpleton and missing an obvious thing?

It never ends.
Hi I can help I think, I did two things to stop this:

1. Go to [Drive where Steam is installed] \Steam\steamapps\Common\railworks\Install
2. Rename all the .exe files you find in there. For example I renamed "vcredist_x86.exe" to "vcredist_x86.STOP"
2.1 If you can't see the .exe extensions do this: In Explorer, go to the File menu and click on "Folder Options". Next, in the dialogue box, click the "View" tab. Look for a check box called "Hide extensions for known file types".
Untick this and press the OK button, you should now see the .exe extentions.
3. In the Railworks folder, find the file "runasadmin.vdf" and "installscript.vdf". Back them up then open them in a text editor, I'd recommend Notepad++ as Windows Notepad had trouble displaying the text correctly on my system.
4. In each of these files there is a section called like this:

"Run Process"
{
... Stuff about installing things ...
}

Comment out everything between the two curly brackets. A comment is two forward slash characters "//".
Example:
"Run Process"
{
// "VCredist10"
// {
// "process 1" "%INSTALLDIR%\\Install\\vcredist_x86.exe"
// "command 1" "/passive /norestart"
// "NoCleanUp" "1"
// }
//}

Save the files and it should stop installing.

If it all goes wrong, delete the files and restore the backups. (Don't forget to rename the files in the install folder back to .exe as well. That should get you back to where you were.

[Disclaimer]
This worked for me, but I cannot take any responsibility if it does not work for you or breaks anything.

Good luck!

So who else is happy that all the graphics and the loading sound (a clanging bell) are American then? OK, it doesn't alter the content but it certainly gives the wrong impression to the rest of the world!

Have to agree with you on that, gave it a quick run around TestTrak but the fact that it was just the 390 cab in a different body shell was a bit offputting (has the DfT even specified tilting trains for IEP?). I like the way they've placed units in multiple on TestTrak to show off the fact that the couplers aren't animated and the covers stay firmly closed when in use :lol:

Odd choice as far as I'm concerned, a Class 91 + Mk4 set on an electrified Newcastle - York (deal with JT maybe?) would have made a lot more sense, and would no doubt have been far more welcome than a more-or-less fictional train with no route to run it on...

Don`t think I`m even going to bother wasting the bandwidth downloading the update by what I've seen on here;

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 1918MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

:oops: :lol:

Could frankly care less if it were Thomas the flaming tank engine dubbed with Frank the wedding planner from "Father of the Bride"...

But thanks for asking.

I'm getting 15fps with the TSX engine on and medium settings for all apart from shadows and shaders which are low, procedural off, bloom - you must be kidding!! Anti-aliasing in minimum or I get 4fps.
2 year old HP laptop 2GB RAM, 1GB Video Ram, NVidia graphics.

Turn TSX off and I get 40+fps. On Railworks I was getting around 30fps.

Interestingly after playing I got a message about a 10.xMB update for TS2012...

All in all the cab sway and rain make it worth while, with detail slider down to 7 and shadows to minimum I may as well turn shadows off which is a shame as they add a great depth of realism.

Maybe we should compile a concise bug report? So the devs don't have to go through the nearly 100 pages? :o

i have given it a try out today on boot camp i find its okay slow loading times. I had to put my graphics on medium setting also i found turning anti analysing down it made the game run better.

Other than that game isn't that bad was a bit disappointed with the american loading screen with the bell sounds would have been better putting a british diesel steam or electric train in the front.
apart from that i would say its not that bad no over excited really. Im sure an update may come out soon.

When you start up railworks go to settings and make sure TSX is selected that should fix this.

The devs won't go through 100 pages, because this not a support channel.

So how do my routes fare?

Barstow-San Bernadino...good
Bath-Twmplecombe: SBHH probably caused by DEP
Bristol-Exeter: Runs ok enough but scenario failed to load...ICS Mk3s all missing
Castle Rock: good
E-g: freezes with blank screen
N-Y: No terrain, track or scenery
TestTrak: Np terrain or track visible

Suffice to say, it looks as though all the default UK stock has deleted itself on my machine and most of the routes have decided to be unplayable.
