Just completed the portsmouth woking run 421 cig and it was only a little jittery here and there ,so for what i have isnt bad but..im sure that TS2012 WILL SMOOTH OUT THE JITTERS problem ,even on my cheap machine.

Problem that needs sorting is Class 421/450/455 are very underpowered since the TS2012 update.

Losing speed on any gradient and never managed to get above 40 mph on one of the 455 scenarios.

Just playing around with my new laptop and the difference in quality between my desktop computer and the laptop is HUGE.

The laptop gives a pin sharp almost touch the loco type of image with incredible lighting effects and a smooth performance in comparison to the slightly fuzzy and low settings image of the desktop.

The evidence I see is this program can already deliver an outstanding performance but you really do have to have some expensive gear to see it.

I know there is a solution in this thread somewhere but with so many posts I cannot tlocate it anymore:

How do you get rid of this 'Performing first Setup - Adobe Flash Player Installer/uninstaller 10.3 r183...' that appears every time when you start Railworks?

Thanks for responses
Jos
Not succeeded yet. I was advised by "Support" to verify cache which I did (twice) taking over 90 minutes and the screen still flashes up on the game initialising. I reported that back but not heard anything further since.
It is just a subliminal flash - first a Steam install message followed by the Adobe message.

My frame rates seem to have settled and gone up now, really liking the TSX engine(every setting at max)whoooohooo. :D

Snap after more tuning mine really seems to have smoothed now.. In the end I used inspector to force the 16 AF and clamp the lod... I also went for SSAA 2x2 (AA handling really seems to have taken a step backwards is my only criticism) and added the files styxx mentioned (forgot the name), I quite like the small blur it adds).. Found this left me with good fps and sooth mouse viewing in all views-however I had to trim passengers to low, shadows and water down one notch and particles down two.. All of which doesnt look too different than before..

Annoying thing is DOF seems to keep resetting though (though I cant decide if I like it or not)

Also is it just me or is everything now getting darker (Especially classic blue and green diesels)

I might have missed it but has 'floating' air intakes been reported on the Deltic.

All 4 float over the the first carriage around 10' up.

TSX enabled; all settings on LOW.

Thanks

I have the feeling though that it delays the starting up time of RW, that is before the actual mesage appears.

Folks,
Has it been established why the GPU gets hammered as soon as TS2012 is launched?
Sitting at the menu in windowed or full-screen mode my GPU is getting thrashed when it's really not doing much at all graphics-wise.
This is nothing new of course because that behaviour has been there since RS, but what is it about this game engine that makes it happen? :-?

I have no idea why that is... but last night running G-E - not the most fancy or demanding of routes  , first I had a blue-screen crash & a second attempt froze the game a bit further on.
This is running 2x2 just to get a half decent picture like I had in RW2, GPU temps were reaching 75, I touched the heat-pipe coming out the side of the card... and I can tell you I pulled my hand away pretty sharpish! Need to investigate my cooling strategy.

I don't know why, I just can't seem to get FXAA to work any more, what requirements does it have in regards to settings? I already tried re-installing it.

Is there any news what in the way of fixes we're expecting any time soon?

Another thing I have noticed, although this not particularly new to TS2012 but now more relevant, when you have been into the World or Scenario Editor in particular, overall performance seems better if you exit the game and run the route again from scratch. This seems to clear out the memory used in editing.

Had a strange thing on WCML North with a Class 390.

Scenario involved a cab change at Motherwell (detour from Glasgow). Later had to save and resume. The scenario picked up putting me in the now rear cab. From then on scenario was using original orientation of train and not changed end. Meant i had to effectively reverse, change cabs every time I went to cab view and no AWS.

Very odd.

Thanks Both.
That has got to be the answer. Shame as I quite like the cross country livery.
Regards Alan
I will have a look tomorrow - maybe just a case of changing the alias to the new default cab?
OK, I have some good news and some bad news ....
The good news is that I have a Cross Country set now with all the new goodies (rain, lights, tilt)!
There seems to have been some significant code changes in both the HSTs .bin file and .GeoPcx file as when I fired it up using the old ones (even though they pathed to the 'default' cab) I got all nasty 'green/yellow' lines across the screen and the wrong cab height.

To sort this out I copied the two files from the FGW folder and, with the aid of RW_Tools, globally changed the path in the .bin file only from:
>Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\FGW\Class43\
to my target path of
>Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\CrossCountry\Class43\
[your target path may differ from mine btw?]
Oh yes, I also changed the engines description and then saved the file (a .bak file will be made just in case).

Whatever you do DON'T use the files from the 'Default' folder as doing a global path change screws up the cab path!!
Clear the cache and make your Cross Country consist (although it should be OK for ones previously made?) and you should have the achieved new TSX features.
Good luck!
I haven't looked yet to see if the same updating of files applies to the carriages ... but my test consist didn't show any problems visually and didn't uncouple over a 5 mile test run?
Presumeably carrying out this excersise with other reskins will work to?

(Talking of carriages - is there a Cross Country restaurant car (TRFB) anywhere to be found?)

............ the bad news is ............
When/If rsc update the 'default' files again then all the relevant files you have just changed will have to be changed again
:( :(

I hope this helps somebody
