Re: TS2012 Woodhead route blog
Derek,hi, this is a great read, I'm so pleased your doing this route, I for one will buy it, as you could see from my YouTube Video I loved it when it was on MSTS. Just one minor request, if your going to use colour light signals,, please,,please use the type that can be seen what aspect they are on the 2D map. Its really difficult to know whats going on, on the WCML & Portsmouth when you cant. Many thanks, keep it coming.

Re: TS2012 Woodhead route blog
Hmmm...1953, Br standard kettles everywhere, early days of electrification coming in, scope for RS.com to fill in some standard 3s,4s and 5s on the kettle front. *leaves biscuit bribery at the droppoint*
Looks to be quite a large route to so plenty of long travel and both freight and passenger, yay. Its quite nice era to focus on, we got alot of modern day routes popping up, certainly be nice to see some more 1940-1960s era routes, RSPaul even hinted at a possible kettle era Newcastle York so certainly compliment things.
Odd thing is, the older electrics are starting to grow on me, as is the BR blue era, normally I'm quite die hard kettle but certainly more appeal coming as of late, especially with the fleshing out of the sulzers which we can now get for Railworks aswell as the other BR diesel era locomotive and well Derek's already filled out a nice chunk of the shunters so we certainly are getting a excellent portfolio of locomotive which can be used for woodhead.

Re: TS2012 Woodhead route blog
Hi, really the route covers a period of about 1953 to 1963. I don't want to be restricted to any one year.
There are plans to create dedicated steam locos for the route as well as other electrics that ran over it too.
regards
Derek

I guess we all have a preference for the time period but presumably RSC must decide what represents the a balance between 'interestingness' and future potential.RSderek wrote:Hi, really the route covers a period of about 1953 to 1963. I don't want to be restricted to any one year.

Our preference will be influenced by personal experience. My memories of the Woodhead route are the early 1970s with 76s and 47s on MGR coal trains. In other words, BR blue at is best!

Re: TS2012 Woodhead route blog
nice to here there are some plans for kettles as well as electrics. Woodhead does have the longest gradient section of track in the country from Sheffield to dunford bridge. i for one am looking forward to slogging up the hill and being made to work rather than push a few buttons in the em1. if i did have one kettle request it would be for the GC C13/14 tanks that worked the locals to glossop before the 506s came along. i could make some use of them.

Can you believe I didn't really know what this was when I took the photo a few months back
You see it doesn't have a chimney
It's stored just up the road from me if any external photos are usefull to anyone.

Can't wait for this monster route to break cover! What an iconic and still to this day, controversial route. This may be of assistance to the makers. Click on the diagrams listed on the left. Keep up the good work!

Feel free to request (with images)
A while ago now I did put a post in the UKTS Freeware Industrial Pack forum with a request for colliery buildings complete with links to photo's. Perhaps there's something there that can help you. http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 7&t=116281 is the link and it's the third post down.
Also, here's a headstock photo of a colliery that was, for the first 2 years of my life, in complete view from my bedroom window, http://www.aditnow.co.uk/photo/Mansfiel ... age-56427/ How I wish I'd been born just a little bit earlier!
Hope these of help to you in some way,

I hope the unique signalling is not skimped over. It needs custom signalling aspects, and it needs custom signal scripting.

Very nice shots... if anyone is modelling this, please remember that the cab fronts (and interiors) and buffer beam areas are in their NS condition, and not as with BR...briyeo1950 wrote:Can you believe I didn't really know what this was when I took the photo a few months backYou see it doesn't have a chimney
