If it installs to the same folder shouldn't be a issue, the only probably issue you would get is reskins.

But since it's a new model it won't install to the same folder.crumplezone wrote:If it installs to the same folder shouldn't be a issue, the only probably issue you would get is reskins.

With the continuous input of mouthwatering pictures on the Railworks page, how near are we to release?

But we don't know how he has structured it, he may well have used exactly the same folder structure and naming conventions, therefore it would go in the same folder.davejc64 wrote:

Next week is the 150/2, so maybe the next? or the next? Steam release slots are limited the nearer we get towards Christmas. We'll find out soon enough no doubtmichaelth wrote:With the continuous input of mouthwatering pictures on the Railworks page, how near are we to release?

The Class 166, Class 47 and Mk1s in TS2012 are also new models, yet they install into the same folders as the originals.davejc64 wrote:But since it's a new model it won't install to the same folder.crumplezone wrote:If it installs to the same folder shouldn't be a issue, the only probably issue you would get is reskins.

Re: Class 50 Release...Soon!
I would hardly describe it as a new model then in that case, just my opinion too which I am entitled.Darpor wrote:But we don't know how he has structured it, he may well have used exactly the same folder structure and naming conventions, therefore it would go in the same folder.davejc64 wrote:

Re: Class 50 Release...Soon!
I personally would not classify a model as new or not based on it's installation location. For me I would be much more interested in the shape, sounds, lighting, physics, performance, etc etc.
You are of course free to judge an item of DLC by it's installation folder
Not the priority for me though.

So the Class 47, 166 and Mk1s in TS2012 aren't new models either then, as they install into the same folder structure as the originals?davejc64 wrote:I would hardly describe it as a new model then in that case, just my opinion too which I am entitled.Darpor wrote:But we don't know how he has structured it, he may well have used exactly the same folder structure and naming conventions, therefore it would go in the same folder.davejc64 wrote:

They replaced the default models, and we didn't pay for them.USRailFan wrote:So the Class 47, 166 and Mk1s in TS2012 aren't new models either then, as they install into the same folder structure as the originals?

Re: Class 50 Release...Soon!
Exactly. I don't think I will be buying this as I don't think I have any need for a third class 50 model (sorry Mike!) but that doesn't detract from what appears to be a very fine modelSlammer423 wrote:Started off life as an upgrade as Mike said but rightly so has turned into something brand newMikeTrams wrote:Hey all,
This project what started out to be rather simple upgrade has turned into something a bit special. With lots of new features and advanced sounds. Hopefully this will raise the quality bar for future add-ons we will do.I do think it MIGHT be a little more expensive than if he sold it off his own back as RSC / the developer have to pay insertion fees to steam don't they?
Otherwise not sure why so much negativity over it, your are not being forced to pay for it, you can buy it or you can stick with the old model.

What has that got to do with anything then?davejc64 wrote:

Why is the folder structure/naming convention so relevant to whether it is a new model or not.

Won't bother quoting all the posts, but this one sums up the rest:nobkins wrote:Others have already put you right on a number of details. You only have to read the first post in this thread for it to be clear that this is a complete rebuild and not an update to an existing model. Unless I have missed the announcement of a price (which is possible) then I would also caution you about stating a "huge price will be charged". Given that one man's huge price is another man's bargain it is hardly a safe statement to make and if you don't know what price it is being sold at (which I believe you don't) then I am not sure what information you are using to base your statement on.msey0002 wrote:Indeed. Not liking this culture of charging huge prices for updates. Not many developers do it, but it's a slippery slope.
The least Mike could have done in this case was publish the 50 himself, and then commit future products to RSC
Thanks
Jim
Thing is, Mike has already said he would release it to people who already own the 50 at reduced cost. DT did that (or attempted to do that with the 40), so there is precedent. I'm sure 95% of previous purchasers have retained the email we were sent upon purchase

Re: Class 50 Release...Soon!
Forget I ever said anything, in future I will keep my opinions to myself or maybe only express them where I'm allowed to.

Why? I was only asking a question!davejc64 wrote:Forget I ever said anything, in future I will keep my opinions to myself or maybe only express them where I'm allowed to.
I presumed there must be a reason that made you thought that way about retaining the folder structure because there are advantages to doing that.
