I'm hoping one of the things that will be better in TS2012 is the ability to create much smoother embankments. I'm assuming this would only be something that can be acheived if they have sorted the square areas to which we work from, hopefully making them a lot lot smaller to enable more rounded formations of the terrain. Nothing worse than a embankment that has hundreds of jagged edges in it unless out of some miracle your running exactly north south or east west.

Shadow maps would be, a shadow cast from a light/lights. Occlusion maps, is I think a metal ray reference, but it's more a direct to what the texture is meant to be. So shadow map sound be a spot light when occlusion map would be more environmental, surrounding lights.
I think.
Cheers,

bremen calm down old chap.
How can you throw away everything away when:
1 - you don't have 2012 yet and
2 - You don't have the new shaders so could not see them even if you did make them
An occlusion map is basically an inverse version of a shadow map. (so inverting a shadow map should give you a pretty good occlusion map to get going with)
Not made one myself yet (or experimented), been busy with other things.
As for more bomb shells, yeah sure there will be a few.

The terrain grid is the same as in RWs2. However with the self shadowing it makes a real difference to surrounding environments.

hi
while following this debate, it makes clear that a better documenation is essential, especially for the new technic or the shaders.
welcome back derek!

If he told you, it wouldn't be a surprise!
If he was going to tell you, 'he'd have done so by now!
As he hasn't told you, you'll have to be patient and wait like the rest of us.

Yes, the cover of the box as shown by Amazon does show that but that doesn't mean that it's written in stone that it's included. A bus went by me this afternoon.... 'Boots the Chemist' was wrote on the side in very large letters, but I doubt I could have bought some asprins from it.....
