Explore the works scenario in Doncaster Works - a problem.

Post by earwigo »

In the first scenario in the Doncaster Works add-on (Long Way Round), I successfully get to the Production Shop and work the traversers to achieve the goal, but when I later on have to go through the Locomotive Maintenance Shop, I cannot get the traverser to move, and so come to a stop there, and cannot go on to complete the scenario. As the Main Loco Jacks 3 road - which I am heading for - is in the shed, I have to gain access to complete that section.
Can anyone who has tried this let me know if you have had the same problem of the non-moving traverser, or if anyone might have any ideas as to how to complete the scenario.
Many thanks,
Stuart.

Hi Stuart

Don't know if I can help, I am (far) away from my PC and RW, and it has been a while back since I drove that scenario. I seem to remember though that I ran into the same problem at first. I think I did it all over again and made very sure that I drove the exact route the scenario requires. I believe that at first I just drove the way I thought best with all these alternatives available, points and short cuts and such, but the traverser may not move because you are missing certain waypoints on your way to the maintenance shop when you "go your own way".

Like I said, this is what I "think" happened. I am sure somebody else will be able to point you in the right direction shortly.

I'm sure I only had to make use of the traverser the once, for the maintenance shop, when I ran this scenario. I'm sure you need to approach the traverser on the road that runs into your target road in the maintenance shop, rather than use the traverser to switch roads.

To call the traverser, you must press G if it is in front of you, or Shift-G if it is behind you. On the 03 shunter, "behind" means "at the cab end".

Thank yo so much, Kromaatikse! IT WORKS! I didn't realise that you could use the G or Shift-G for the traverser, similarly to as you do for the point switching.
I am most grateful to you - and to all the other forum members who have answered my post.
Best wishes,
Stuart.
