Re: Rail clack sound ?
I thought I had cracked it but I've found a couple of errors with my sounds. Firstly at high speeds the sounds increase in pitch until they become as horrible as the default ones. Secondly on four wheeled wagons only one axle on each vehicle makes a sound and each sound does a double hit so although there are two clacks per vehicle they occur straight after each other and not in time with the wheels. On bogie wagons this isn't a problem and all four axles produce the sound at the correct times.
On the Class 31 and the OBA wagons included in the pack the sounds are OK at all speeds it makes me believe the problem may be rectified by modifying the settings in the relevant bin/proxybin file. As I have AP sound packs installed for the mk1's and wagons it may be the RA_BG_Mk1 file that needs looking into.

Re: Rail clack sound ?
I had a problem with the 170 cab track joint sound too, so I edited the BG_Modern.proxyml file to lower the volume. You'll find this file in the Assets\Thomson\Class170Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies. Find the section for Joint Muted Inside and alter its base volume to 0.3. This, for me, seems much more realistic but if it's still too loud, you could take it down another notch to 0.2.chriswillis81 wrote:I'm definately in the ''the sounds have to be as near on'' corner. I contributed a lot to a post on here regarding the 4cig sounds and how aweful they were, and to my suprise i was joined by quite a number of people too. Like so many others, i purchased the sound pack from AP and the difference was incredible. My favourite train to drive is the 170, andi love the sounds it makes as it goes over points, but thats as far as it goes, dont even get me started on the ''in cab'' sounds with the track though, because to me it sounds like somebody is hammering on the back of the bulk head in the saloon.

Great video! Wasn't there a longer one though on a different route? Or have I just imagined that?

Re: Rail clack sound ?
AAAH! I see, jim fixed it for me eh?

Re: Rail clack sound ?
Well, Bob actually. Jim's getting on a bit.
I sincerely hope I might have found a kindred spirit. This is the sound that defines my railway childhood.
In the meantime, I console myself with something like this:

or this

Or even one of these:

If you're interested in 501-land then you must also try these. You can smell them!
