Looked in the RWTools edit scenario to change the departure time for one of the 4 standard scenarios only to find there are 2 entries for each scenario. Anyone else got this or is it just me?

For anyone that is having problems with "The Keystone" scenario, I've made a fix for it which you can get here if you are interested :)

http://www.alienworlds.net/Keystone-Sta ... %20Fix.zip

Just copy that file into the main railworks directory and that will overwrite the standard scenario (nothing that i can do about the career scenario though :( ).

Or if you like to do it yourself, you have to go into the editor and find Train 19 in the timetable editor and change the final destination of the freight train from "Metuchen Southbound Slow" to "Metuchen Northbound Slow" This will correct the error with the colliding AI halfway through the scenario :)
Something goes here??

I think you will find that one is a standard scenario and the other version is most likely a career scenario.

It does appear that there are Standard and Career Mode versions of all four scenarios.

Incidentally, I'd like to amplify my previous statement about the difficulty of learning these American signals:

The German system, if you put a main and distant head together, is capable of displaying eight distinct aspects. These are:
  • Absolute Stop
  • Shunt Proceed
  • Slow, expect Stop
  • Slow, expect Slow
  • Slow, expect Clear
  • Clear, expect Stop
  • Clear, expect Slow
  • Clear, expect Clear
The British colour-light system, if you count all feathers or theatres as a single entity, permits the following ten distinct aspects:
  • Danger (stop)
  • Call On (for shunting)
  • Caution (expect Danger ahead)
  • Advance Caution (expect Caution ahead)
  • Clear
  • Caution with Route Indication
  • Advance Caution with Route Indication
  • Clear with Route Indication
  • Fast Divergence Caution
  • Advance Fast Divergence Caution
The NEC Signal Aspects manual lists fourteen distinct aspects, and without the logical structure associated with the German and British systems:
  • Clear (line speed)
  • Cab Speed (or 60mph)
  • Approach Limited (slow to 45mph)
  • Advance Approach (slow to 45mph, expect Stop two signals ahead)
  • Limited Clear (proceed at 45mph)
  • Approach Medium (slow to 30mph)
  • Approach Slow (slow to 30mph, expect Restricted ahead)
  • Approach (slow to 30mph, expect Stop ahead)
  • Medium Clear (proceed at 30mph)
  • Medium Approach (proceed at 30mph, expect Stop two signals ahead)
  • Slow Approach (proceed at 30mph, expect Stop ahead)
  • Restricted (slow to 20mph or 15mph depending on context)
  • Stop and Proceed (at 20mph, on sight authority)
  • Stop
You'll notice that I've actually re-ordered the above list into a more logical order, so that approximately more permissive aspects come first. Yet the names still don't make sense - why is Approach Slow (marginally) more permissive than Approach? - and the design of each aspect makes even less sense for most of the cautionary aspects. You'd better hope you don't have dyslexia either - Approach Slow and Slow Approach have significantly different meanings, as do Approach Medium and Medium Approach.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

well, the east german system has 17 distinct aspects as well. :D
if you count an integrated zs1, zs7 or ra12/sh1, it would actually be 20 aspects.

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hl-Signalsystem

hl 1 - clear
hl 2 - clear at 100 kph, expect clear
hl 3a - clear at 40 kph, expect clear
hl 3b - clear at 60 kph, expect clear
hl 4 - clear, expect clear at 100 kph
hl 5 - clear at 100 kph, expect clear at 100 kph
hl 6a - clear at 40 kph, expect clear at 100 kph
hl 6b - clear at 60 kph, expect clear at 100 kph
hl 7 - clear, expect clear at 60 kph or 40 kph
hl 8 - clear at 100 kph, expect clear at 60 kph or 40 kph
hl 9a - clear at 40 kph, expect clear at 60 kph or 40 kph
hl 9b - clear at 60 kph, expect clear at 60 kph or 40 kph
hl 10 - expect stop
hl 11 - clear at 100 phh, expect stop
hl 12a - clear at 40 kph, expect stop
hl 12b - clear at 60 kph, expect stop
hl 13 / hp0 - stop

additionally
zs 1 - proceed past signal showing stop aspect or defective signal
zs 7 - proceed past signal showing stop aspect or defective signal, continue on sight
sh 1 / ra 12 - shunt proceed

now you know why everyone had to wait so long for their trabants, they were stuck on trains in front of signals because the engineers didn't know what to do. :)
needless to say i much prefer the west german way of showing aspect hp2 (slow) with an additional zs3 displaying the speed...

The NEC is out and very nice indeed. The AEM7 and amfleet cars look great. I did notice that one of the scenarios ends with an AI collision "The Keystone". I have uploaded and updated version to the FREE STUFF page on my website. This will not overwrite the original version it is just named V2. I have found that when you modify an RSC scenario some steam updates or anytime you verify files will change it back. Obviously you will need to have purchased the NEC for this to work.

Have fun

Believe it or not. The CPL signal system was originally designed to mimic a semaphore signal in a digital form.

hija, ...

..more review,...
The most realistic look at the white tires from the cars. :(
Gives a little less gray and white to silver.
Then something that looks realistic.

The locomotive has a light Alpha and the track itself has the old MSTS look very similar. :-?
Hope it's better to upgrade the Sept. 23 new effect grafiX.
At the moment the graphics are rather mop and wash ... MSTS likely. :-?

The locomotive looks from the outside but very nice and the cars are on the mesh very well.
The Real Estate work for a very simplified overview of some negligence and thrown more like on the fly. :-?

But nevertheless it is of course a good stretch.
Even though the first with minor degradation.

I am now waiting anxiously for the Acela, which would then go on tour with the A7.

Thanks for all the reviews guys, keep them coming. They are indeed very helpful and informative.

I've got two questions though:

1. Is the catenary as poor as I spot from the screenshots provided in this thread? How notable are the floating wires?

2. How well is the clutter on station platforms? There seems to be a growing trend to make station platforms as empty as possible..

Having recently discovered the joys of applying real-life historic timetables into timetabled runs I grabbed the actual current Amtrak timetable for Northeast Corridor 1 from Amtrak http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSe ... 7405732505 and built the skeleton of the Northeastern 66 run from Philadelphia to New York City's midnight run. Basically the route seems to follow the real-life timetable quite well, allowing for real-life baggage handling (if any) and realistic loading/unloading/wait times. Can't wait for RW3/TS2012 for well lit stations (currently a muggers paradise in the big stations at night :o ). Looking forwards to adding the Acaela now.

Kind regards,

Dave

I noticed a mention earlier in the posts that there is no passenger view. I find this very strange for a route that is essentially a passenger route. This seems to be becoming a trend as several other releases recently also have dropped the passenger view. Personally, I always like to have the possibility to be a passenger in a passenger train.
