I REALLY want to enjoy RW... BUT...

After HOURS of figuring signals out... looking through countless tutorials and stuff and eventually find out that the signal I've been using isn't even working properly; I finally manage to pull a scenario together and its going well until... But Then: I get a BaSOD (Black-Screen-Of-Death)...

Now,.. I have cleared Verified the Game Cache (at least 10+ files missing each day btw, WHY!?) and Cleared Blueprint Cache...

Ok, I can load up my custom Route, fine... If I try and go to scenario mode though (free-roam) the screen goes black, the game hangs but all the toolboxes on the sides are still there (unmovable cant click) and then I get the standard request to make a debug file... after alt+tabbing.

So then I try the alternate way... by loading the Free Roam Scenario from the Main Menu... loads fine, simulates fine,.. plays fine (however a train de-rails as Im still getting used t othe AI,.. dont get me started). If I pop back to the World Editor... thats fine... try and enter the scenario again. Boom, same problem. I have tried cloning the scenario, renaming... This is really annoying.

Any suggestions on a way to recover my work!?

Basically the free-roam scenario attached to my route has problems loading from the world editor, it will load fine from the main menu, but hopping back and forth between world editor and scenario editor causes it to crash.

The only thing that seemed to make this happen was (i.e. in between saves):

I created a consist of a 0-4-ST a Mk1 Second & Mk1 Guard (All official/official add-ons) and started it in the portal. (Scenario Mode: Double-Clicked Portal, added the consist).
I then tried to schedule a route or the consist (Starting 3 mins after the sim starts)... however the siding I wanted it to pull in to was no marked. So I went to World Editor and created the sidings properly (I chose not to re-name them, the defualt names were not taken (Siding 1 etc)). Then going back to Scenario Mode to edit the route of the consist sitting in the portal. Game crashed and black screen, same ever since.

But like I said... if I open the Scenario through the main menu, (bypassing world editor). Its all fine? What the deuce.

Hi, I'm not sure if I read this correctly but it sounds like you have tried to add AI, and out of a portal on the only free roam scenario on your route. You need to use a standard or timetabled scenario for that sort of thing, so that the dispatcher has at least a fighting chance to control everything

Starting a consist from a portal doesn't work in theory and isn't supported. Whilst I have seen it done. It is a known source of problems.

To fix any scenario, change one thing at a time. Then you need to save it and come out of it and reload it or anything that happens will be misleading as the game hasn't reloaded it properly.

I use portals a lot but only with a "timetabled" scenario, usually without problems. With freeroam no destinations are set and paths are random and you have to set it yourself. As has been said before the dispatcher is going to crumble. As for the sbhh's I get that all the time shifting between editors I think it may be running out of resources?
