Help with rubber-banding

Post by 47712 »

Hi there

sorry to bring this subject up again, but i seem to be having some problems with rubber-banding/stuttering. :(

I had to reformat windows 7 (64-bit) a while back and after downloading and installing railworks, i noticed that the rubber-banding is worse then it was before i re-formated. I have tried installing the latest graphics card drivers (8800gt) also followed the setup guide on this forum of changing the settings in the nvidia control panel aswell as de-fragmenting.

I don't know if its just me, perhaps being more aware of the stutter/elastic banding this time round, but im sure it has gotten worse since re-installing railworks. It seems when veiwing from the cab or side-on, i can see the effect qutie badly. has anyone got any suggestions that i could try, and perhaps what might be causing my issue with increased rubber banding?

as i said, i'm sorry to have to raise this boring subject again, but im puzzled as to what's happening. I had some stuttering/rubber-banding on my previous install, but i had it running alot better then.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice :)

I suggest forcing on Vsync and reducing the number of queued frames.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

Thanks for the tip, it did slightly improve matters for me.
If I check the frame rate though it still indicates about 150 frames/sec as before.
Should I not see this reduce having set vsync.
Any further pointers to help as the rubber banding problem is a real turn off using Railworks.

There are pages and pages on this subject hidden within this very forum. Abstract? Not much you can do except hope that RW3 solves it (although some rubber banding appeared to still be present in the latest teaser).

Yes, above raindrops on windows this aspect of RW really does need sorting......

Leaving aside the desirability of authentic-looking raindrops, the elimination of 'rubber banding' should be THE priority to improve the RW 'experience'. Anything else is mere window dressing until this is addressed - IMHO, of course.

I could NOT agree more - for me, if rubber-banding and stuttering are not eliminated in RW3, then the whole exercise will have been a waste of time and resource ...
