Is it possible to have a handbrake icon in the steam engine hud that lights up when the handbrake is applied, as it is difficult to tell sometimes if the handbrake is on or off.

Does the handbrake actually have an effect in Railworks or is it just for show? In some loco's you can apply the handbrake (47, 37 etc) but would it stop you from moving if you tried to drive off?

I have not tried it on the diesel loco's, but on the steam loco's it works especially when you are waiting at a signal or station platform on a gradient with the loco's main brakes off. As for driving with it on I suspect it would slow you down but not actually stop you.

It entirely depends on the setup for the loco you are driving and yes it can stop you moving off though again it depends on the loco setup parameters.

Can you tell me what is the list of steam loco (DLC and packaged base of RW2) have a handbrake fonctionnal ?
... I never using this handbrake fonction on platform standing and never in a stop standing.
I'm interesting to test this fonction on all different steam engine .
And what icon in the HUD is the handbraking fonction ?

Regarding the original question, it is possible to see which vehicles in a consist have a handbrake fitted and the state of that brake by switching the "ticker tape" into coupling view mode (middle button on the left of the display)
