Not saying I'm unhappy, Glyn - just an observation, that's all.

Cor, I remember those; one of them used to live in the glovebox of my dad's 105E Anglia :D

After the main road atlas bit, there was a whole section on flora and fauna of the British Isles 8)

Keeping us off topic for a little longer, a friend and I drove all the way from Leicester to London in torrential rain on one potato in the early 1960s, when a Ford's vacuum powered wipers packed up.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Mind Derek, I didn't realise they powered cars! Maybe theyve made vodka from them, and then burnt that...

Good afternoon everyone
I can't recall any simulator where the rain entered the cab of a locomotive
Kind regards Stephen

The rain does not come into the cab because the rain effect is focused around the camera (as in almost every game)
As the camera is in the cab we can tell the code not to draw the rain X metres from the camera piont, so the rain effect does not look like it is coming inside the cab.

The code also knows when you enter/exit a tunnel so it will stop the rain from being displayed when inside a tunnel.

As the rain is drawn around the camera it is very difficult to detect if you are under a canopy or inside a building.

So it will still rain in Stations until a future update where that is priority.

Derek

Might have to add tunnel coding to canopies then - would presumably stop the shadows as well. :)

you could define the track beneath the canopy as tunnel track.
although i'm not sure whether the rain actually stops when you enter a tunnel or whether it actually stops when you drive under the level of terrain.
someone should test that.

it's when you go under the terrain.

yes, indeed, i just tested it out...

mh...me thinks it would be just logical to make this new fabulous rain to behave just as realistic as it now looks on the windscreen... ;)
