I enjoyed it, but it was kind of predictable with the caravan going up in flames and then being shattered into smithereens by the oncoming train. Rowan Atkinson was good though 8)

I have not seen Rowan Atkinson interviewed very much. Would like to see him more on TV

If you have ever seen youtube take a look at some of his comedy sketches.

I had a few niggles with it but otherwise a very good episode,

1.Richard said "if its only got 1 carriage its not a train" Whats a 153 then???
2.When Jeremy said at the end of the episode last week there was gonna be a small fire and then i saw the oven in the buffet car i also predicted where the fire was gonna be.
3.The Continuity on that episode was appalling as Jeremy was on the left and then the right and then back on the left.

  at Jeremy with the GWR train and calling a funnel an exhaust and calling the tender a carriage. "with its 96inch rim"

Was a very good episode and did provide some good laughs. Clarkson's 'sports' train is more something like http://www.flickr.com/photos/quarm/5707084961/ 1750 HP for 1 coach...

I wish there were a way to watch the "real" version of Top Gear here in the US.

There are ways... I'll leave it there.

On that note, yeah, the U.S. version is embarrassing to watch. It's terribly edited, the hosts aren't funny or genuine. They are more actors than car enthusiasts and the only cars they trash are the clunkers they use to drive around in doing their stupid stunts. Anything new and in production even if it is garbage they never talk bad about it.

I agree, it's horrible compared to the snippets I see of the "real" version.

I believe the photograph Jeremy had is a broad-gauge Iron Duke class, though I can't make out the nameplate and I didn't easily find the original online. To be fair to him, they *were* very fast locos for their time (ie. well before the heyday of Atlantics and Pacifics), and the chimney *is* part of the exhaust system. But the tender is still not a carriage...

It's fairly clear that the filming was done at the Great Central Railway. Another continuity error is that there is no shed at the Leicester end, so both trains would have had to be present at the start, making jeremy's entry just a little less of a surprise. So it's also pretty clear that the segment was scripted, especially as several of the "incidents" would have led to RAIB involvement if not pre-arranged in microscopic detail.

The whole show was a pretty good illustration of why "road people" shouldn't be running railways.

Everything that happens in Top Gear is scripted, makes it a bit of a pain to watch sometimes. The continuity mistakes are allowed to happen because they think the viewing public will be too thick to notice, looking at the mob that are always in the background at the studio you cant blame them for thinking that
BTW that Jag just needed sanders :)

On the subject of watching BBC I-Player from another region, the BBC's own "Click" program showed how to to do it and provided links a while ago :-?
