Re: Train Simulator 2012
How on earth could you make HS2 when no-one has even decided on a route for the real one? the box pic is an artist's impression of what a possible Hitachi IEP set would look like ( and given the govt is looking at procurement right now, who knows if it's even going to be Hitachi and what format ). What exactly has Derek said it isn't going to be so far, anyone keeping track?

From Facebook: "Keep an eye out for the new TS2012 UK route announcement in the next few weeks." on Horseshoe Curve announcement page (last sentence): http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 0935d173f3Darpor wrote:...and there is no mention of a new UK route to be released with RW3.
Does that clear things up?
Though no mention will this be released same time as TS2012. Maybe not if it's just announced in few weeks.

Re: Train Simulator 2012
One other thought on whether to "buy" RW3, not just for additional content is to get a more up to date base game from which to reinstall if necessary. I'm assuming that the update to RW3 and the new features will be a hefty Mb if not indeed Gb download. Add that to the weight already needed to bring the original RW flimsy disc install just to where we are now and for anyone on limited bandwidh, it becomes an attractive proposition.
Like I said, will see what's in the box but certainly an option I'm consideing.

Re: Train Simulator 2012
Since the Horseshoe Curve will initially be available for £9.99 it looks a better proposition to accept the free upgrade and purchase the Horsehoe Curve separately if desired.Sequel to the award-winning RailWorks 2 Train Simulator, Train Simulator 2012 looks set to push the boundaries of simulation even further, and being able to drive along this famous railroad under the shadow of the Allegheny Mountains is sure to appeal to a great many users. The Horseshoe Curve will be included with all copies of Train Simulator 2012 purchased via Steam and in the deluxe boxed addition. It will also be sold separately on Steam for customers who take advantage of the FREE upgrade to Train Simulator 2012. The Horseshoe Curve add-on is launched on promotion at just $14.99, £9.99, €11.49 (RRP: $29.99, £19.99, €22.99)

Re: Train Simulator 2012
If you quoted what I said, rather than interpreting incorrectly, you would have noticed I said it "might" be the HS2 train with the HS2 route. I then later found out about the IEP and posted a retraction on that post (beings as I can't edit it) and said that it "could be" a new ECML.Darpor wrote:No it isn't, the box art shows the Hitachi Super Express, however, nothing seems to have been confirmed as yet but it would strike me as silly to use such a train on a box if it wasn't included. Also, it isn't strictly a locomotive. The new UK locomotive is the HS2 train.............![]()
It isn't the HS2 one (see above) and there is no mention of a new UK route to be released with RW3.Because the train is the HS2 one, the new UK route coming with RW3 is HS2........
Does that clear things up?
Judging by the UK cover on Amazon's website, it looks like the new UK route might be the HS2 route, with the HS2 train as the new UK rolling stock.
So it looks like it could be a possible future version of the ECML as the new route.

Re: Train Simulator 2012
Well the Hitachi Super Express does seem likely considering they said the new train will be "futuristic".. and I think you're right it may be a future version of the ECML.
This tying in with the fact that Ben Laws has passed his current work on the 225 set to the RSC content team to continue with.??

I didn't quote you because I wasn't trying to make a direct reference to what you had said, merely clearing up any confusion for the benefit of moving forward.arcticfurnace wrote:

Re: Train Simulator 2012
I highly doubt it is a HS2 train included in RW3. Looks like someone at Amazon just made a cover.

Re: Train Simulator 2012
Yeah hopefully that is the case.
Re: Train Simulator 2012
Must admit, it does not look like a RW model and seems to be more like the stock photos. Lets not forget that Amazon have a long history of making covers, using stock photography and farming out unrealistic release dates. They even had release dates on my routes before I had even finished building!Fincra5 wrote:I highly doubt it is a HS2 train included in RW3. Looks like someone at Amazon just made a cover.

This is actually it, from the video on the BBC website. It's just the cover picture is in higher quality.

Good detective work, Mr P.
To be honest I really do wish that once in a while people would stop posting actual facts in this thread. It's extremely frustrating.

Re: Train Simulator 2012
Odd, I saw those images before on Hornby's website for one of there train packs they were releasing for the 2012 olympics as a mock up shot, alot of comments were why did the train look half there due to angle of the shot looking like the back of the train is missing. So I'd think any shots are probably doctored or mock shots, especially in amazon's case which is probably there for some rules for selling pre-orders on there website.Darpor wrote:Must admit, it does not look like a RW model and seems to be more like the stock photos. I also thought Derek was in communications with 3rd party developers so there wasn't a overlap of content, if I recall there is atleast 3 ECML projects in the works + the two existing ones, we hardly need another ontop of that unless RS.com were taking on the mammoth task of a Edinburgh to King's Cross.
