Was there a new UK route announced? I thought it was just one route, which seems to be American.

Edit

Just looked at the FAQ and no UK route was mentioned.
Are any new locomotives or routes included with Train Simulator 2012?
Yes! Train Simulator 2012 will retain all the locomotives and routes previously included with RailWorks 2, PLUS a brand new EMD F7
locomotive and a new UK locomotive to be revealed shortly. Also, we will have an amazing new route, fully optimized to show off all
the new technology, this will be available bundled with every new purchase of the Train Simulator 2012 Steam Edition. Existing users
will be able to buy this new route as DLC from our Steam store.

According to Facebook! -
The Horseshoe Curve will be available for Train Simulator 2012 September 23.

Keep an eye out for the new TS2012 UK route announcement in the next few weeks.

Now I'm confused, since how is that a locomotive, as we all surely know, multiple units are not locos :D And wouldn't HS2 be a bit pre emptive, seeing as its still in the design stage with no confirmed stock etc :P Also that is not a Class 395. In all I am very confused. And since when did a route get announced :-?

Edit* Didn't Derek say it was something that had appeared on his blog several times a while ago... So maybe that is just box art... Like on one of the trainz 2006 boxes which had an Ivatt 2mt 2-6-0 ( but didn't have one ingame :D )

Thats the artist's impression of the HS2 train.

The picture on the box isn't a stock photo that I can find on Google, so I presume its a model that RS have made, or another company if someone else is making it.

Also you are forgetting the GARL route which has never actually been built in real life (AFAIK) with the class 380 which weren't in use when they were made for Railworks.

In theory, a HS2 could run on a "modernised" and maybe extended GWML...

And it's not unprecedented to see a simulation of a transport vehicle before the release. It happened in Flight Sim with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the A380.

I should point out that that is actually the Artist version of the Super Express train for the IEP which will replace the HSTs ;) (going by the picture! and what's already been posted ;))

I see, well that picture is referenced quite a lot with the HS2, along with a couple of others which look exactly the same. So that's what has confused me, I wasn't aware of the IEP.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what gets announced.

RE my previous post about box art. I've found the photo on Google now after looking for images of the IEP. So it looks like it could be a possible future version of the ECML as the new route.

Cant'wait.
Since when did Union Pacific start operating in Virginia???? "It accurately recreates not only the famous curve" - i wonder if they'd want to show a W-I-P of e.g. a pre-grouping Midland Mainline, and let half the trains be LNER locos hauling Southern coaches?

Isn't the Horseshoe Curve in Pennsylvania though? (I'm sure though that I've seen a LNER train with southern coaches ;) -although technically it doesn't count seeing as it was a railtour !)

Hmmm...one wonders if this new UK route will be a Welsh route? I'm also not sure if RSC have ever created a preserved Branchline yet, (yes, I know we have plenty of them in the Downloads section of this site, but still?...) so Im holding out for something small, modern and with plenty of activity areas for shunting.

Anyways, the new American route looks rather impressive! Might have to buy it, as well as the NEC.

As for the proposed UK engine, I'm not sure if it is that High Speed Train, though it would be very interesting to see something as futuristic as that in the game. I'd still like to see another Default Steamer in there, but I guess we';ll have to wait and see!

Dark.

I'm fairly sure Altoona and Johnstown are both in PA. I'm not so sure about the bits in between

Well, yes, it is, of course. Still, from what I've been able to gather, the route will be set around 1960 or so - at a time where 1) Union Pacific only operated as far east as Omaha and 2) any run-through train between one railroad and another, would virtually always change locos at the 'border' between the two railroads (e.g. even if a UP train were to run through via MILW/C&NW to the Pennsy, it'd with more than 90% certainty be repowered with Pennsy power). Even if it might be just a 'stand-in' it is still not really a wise choice considering they've obviously already made a Pennsy GP9, so they shouldn't really need to use 'foreign' power at all.
