Wasn't there an old E-boat fitted with Deltic engines at one point?

As for me, I have a *real* air-raid shelter to go to (apartment built during the latter stages of the Cold War, ~100 miles from the Russian border). Just need to pick up a camping stove to heat up my soup and beans tins, and remember to take my mokkula to read the news with...

Just checked the RSC site and the bits of Facebook you can see without signing up to, but for such a high profile exercise, there's no mention at all of the announcement on either.

Oh well, guess we will have to wait until 1900, or the chosen few start reporting to find out what it's all about...

More than one fast patrol boat class used them, iirc. Even served in Vietnam.

( The US Navy obviously hadn't got any ideas about stealth back then :) )

The announcement was on facebook about 3days ago by Paul Jackson, hardly what I'd call no mention and there isn't much point in announcing a anouncement for a update announcement on the main page when you going to reveal information on Thursday night to be honest.

One thing I'd expect is the official website to be kept fully up to date

I am surprised that Railsimulator.com, being a tech company, aren't using something like UStream to do a live podcast of the announcement. That and no Google plus page yet tut tut

This is getting like Apple's product announcement... ooh thats it, Railworks on OS X... that's the announcement... :grab:

Gives me an idea, keep an eye on this forum ... :multi:

They are Hi Tech .. it is just that some of us are not

No point in using HI Tech media to make important announcements if many people are going to miss it. The launcher screen could be used a bit more for information though as this is seen every time RW is started and is updated in real time if the computer is connected to the internet regardless of whether you are online to Steam or not.

Hahahahahahaha, what complete rubbish, i remember those things being distributed.
But the government never told anyone, that the whole UK is in a "blast zone".
Which overlap taking in to account, the most likely targets.
So building a shelter out of doors and books was\is futile.

Us low tech people would prefer the old Power Point Presentation.

Deltic engines are actually fairly quiet by marine standards. Put a big silencer on them and the exhaust noise goes away; they then have very low vibration and magnetic signature (which are important to minesweepers).

My point was that notionally that E-boat is still lying around the docks somewhere... :D

Give me acetate slides thankyouverymuch :D

FWIW - I'm very curious what is going to be announced, but I really suspect it'll be something that means the final nail in the coffin for my ageing PC... Adn don't get me started on that one... :x
