Class 455/8 - what's going wrong?

Post by batling »

Hi all,

Can someone tell me why I keep getting the SBHH message after I've swapped half the Class 450 AI trains on the Hightail to the Harbour scenario for the 455?

I've run the original scenario (before swapping) and ticked DRB in the editor, and I can place the trains manually no problem. And I've run it through RW Tools and it says no problem...? Stumped...

Have you also made sure that Kuju/RailSimulator is ticked in the editor? Also have you cleared the blueprint cache?

Swapping in vehicles with a different length or incompatible couplings can cause problems sometimes. One way around this is to swap the first driving unit only (the one with the driver icon), delete the others and use the normal method in the scenario editor to add the rest onto the back.

If the driving instructions for the service in question are quite simple, it is probably quicker to stay in the scenario editor and simply delete/replace the whole deal including the instructions.

There are some trains that are difficult to swap directly and the 455 is one of them. It gets rather complicated but what you would need to do is - for each AI consist delete all but the front engine ( so the commands are not lost ) and then swap out the last one with one 455 leading driver carriage and save the scenario. You would then need to go into the railworks scenario editor and add the other carriages to the each AI consist you swapped.

Have cleared the cache but not ticked the RS/kuju box... will try that and if that doesn't work I'll try it manually as per the other replies... Nothing's ever bloody simple is it...?!

Manual wins!

., I'll have to go through the lot... I also want to create a 1980's version of this scenario using Dave's EPB's and blue/grey 455... I'll get back to you at Christmas :o

Thanks for your help guys,

You can't. You can only swap the type of loco under an existing driver, using RWTools. There's no such facility in Railworks itself.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

You use a high-tech combination of a paper and pen to make a note of the necessary commands. Or if they are simple enough (like a single stop and a final destination) you can do it from memory.

It is indeed possible to swap the lead loco/unit that has the commands in RWTools, then delete the rest of the stock behind and then manually add what you want in RW - it takes time but I've just done it with the Hightail to the Harbour scenario for Portsmouth Direct. Took a bit of fiddling but got there.

Thanks for the help all.
